anon, taking a break can actually be beneficial as one would be more ready to go to college versus someone who just went right out of high school. I did that, but I was also working full time while doing it to gain a hate of what the "real world" was like. I started at 21 for college, and its not like I am too old for it. Besides, I end up just going back to my apartment anyway after class.
