Go back to work and say that you were terribly sick and give a sincere apology. If you are already laid off, then find another job and work. Having a source of income and something to do is important, you may not like it but nobody is going to respect you, least of all yourself if you keep putting off work. Go to work, if you stay at home and do nothing you will grow even more lethargic and depressed. You don't have to rush to go out and socialize and do other things all at once, but going to work is an important first step.
