Well what you're asking is borderline a question of psychology and will. Psychologically, the lardass is going to have a tough time exerting the degree of control necessary to both implement a regular fitness regiment and a complementary diet. The skinny guy will adjust quickly to the fitness if he isn't an idiot, but he has the challenge of bulking-- eating far more than he's normally used to, which in my opinion is far more difficult than cutting out food its vices. Essentially, assuming his mind is top tier, all the fat guy has to do is roll downhill, with the added bonus of the strength accrued in lugging all of that mass around. The skinny guy has to dart uphill, aggressively contorting his lackadaisical lifestyle into a far more structured one. Each has its difficulties.

That being said, most fat people don't have top-tier wills, and are more often prisoners of their own complacency. But keep in mind, both extreme skinny and extreme fat are opposite sides of the same spectrum. They're both extremely challenging to overcome, just in their own ways.

Maybe they're legit hungry or skipped breakfast or have physically demanding work ahead of them.
Fatty would eat, get full, but keep going solely because it tastes good.
