But for most its a self diagnose shit.
I feel like theres going to be a big difference in over diagnosing in America, since they have financial motive to do so...I`m guessing?
Over in the uk its hard as fuck to get diagnosed in anything that isnt childsplay e.g. deppresion, anxiety and psychosis. The holy tinity. I`ve been told I have something by a couple of doctors but never been actually diagnosed because whats the point.

Yeah. I was diagnosed with ADD. Been on meds for 2 years. Had EEG...nope just have a problem with the hemispheres of my brain connecting and processing information...as a result of the pills I had to take. So fuck the docs, they don't know shit.

The only problem is that it's being given to little kids rather than grown adults who can decide for themselves if the risks outweigh the benefits

I got diagnosed with OCD too as a kid in early secondry school. It went down with some councilling for a while but is getting worse again now.
Honestly its probably one of the most misunderstood illnesses out their. Like thats to them fucking cleaning shows where they recruit OCD people with only cleaning symptoms and then shows them off. It doesnt show any of the shit afterwards all I fucking heard in highschool was people talk about how they had it because they liked things neat and tidy, meanwhile I was staying up at like 1am screaming because of it. I never said owt, I`m not a doctor to say otherwise nor did I speak about mine. I just felt and still do that speaking about things like that is only ever decent when your talking to another one.
But yeah OCD is a bitch, its horrible and kind of become a meme.

Yes and no about the America thing. We mostly get the same three diagnoses unless you see a specialist. Most doctors will still throw antidepressants or mood stabilizers my way if I'm honest with them. Don't like them, so I am not.

Psych student here, there's actually a checklist of symptoms that psychiatrists or whoever go through to diagnose depression and other mental illnesses, as obvious as it sounds. If you have I think 5 or so then it's probably depression, but if you have 3 that are super bad it can be depression too. Don't have my notes with me so I can't go into more detail right now. That said, it's hard to correctly diagnose these illnesses sometimes becausw you kinda have to give the patient the benefit of the doubt (you can't just tell them "no you haven't" if they say they've been feeling sullen for the last few months) which is why sometimes you don't diagnose a person's disorder you only diagnose their perspective of it. Can be hard desu but docs do their best
