Just graduated from community college. The entire time I was there I had no friends and talked to no one. The closest I've ever had to a friend was this one guy this last semester that was in the computer lab while I waited between classes for the next one to start. My first yr I got bad grades and financial aid got taken away. The first year was the hardest i didnt have anyone to talk to and depression hit hard i gained weight and got stretch marks. Starting my third year on a BA History course in a month. The UK uses a percentage based system but the US uses GPA.
I finished first year with 77% overall, which is a 1st class grade in the UK but 77% would be a shit in the US as far as I know.

On my orientation there was this really cute grill who got along well with me. She even wanted to sit beside me and smiled a lot when we talked. The first time in my life a grill was so empathetic towards me. Her name was Anna and I remember her blonde hair, her brown eyes and her goofy smile from my jokes. I was too much of a cowardly sperg back then to exchange numbers or anything, but she gave me a small metal pin from her work place at the time and said I should visit her there sometime.

I never went there. I hoped every semester that maybe our paths would cross again, somewhere on that huge campus, but I never saw her again. I will finally graduate in the coming winter after all these years.

Fellow germanfag here. I commute daily for 45 to 60 minutes with bus and s-bahn. It's not the best, but far from bad. You'll manage. Just make sure to eat a good breakfast and perhaps use the time in the train to read. A lot of people commute this long.

If you ever get nervous, just remember that everyone else is in the same position as you: they're in an unfamiliar place surrounded by people who they've never met before - it's perfectly ok to be worried! Just don't let that stop you from making friends. These are people who you will know for all of your time in uni - or heck, even for the rest of your life. That's something to embrace and look forward to, in my opinion.

I still find it rather amusing that in America, where land should be so cheap and easy to obtain, that people have to share a room together. In the UK you get a room for yourself and sharing a room is rather rare, it's even illegal in some cases as we have a lot of laws about the maximum number of tenants a house can 'hold'.

How much do you guys normally pay for just a room in the US? Do you get options for cheaper or more expensive housing within the university?

My orientation was absolutely terrible. In was run by cringey students and it was 4 hours of icebreakers with an hour of actual important stuff. The first thing they had us do was split into groups and "draw the first letter of our first name with our butts".

Most if not all colleges, even if you are not a freshman, have events and mandatory/compulsory things for freshman/first years. Can't get out of it. Dorms are a choice if you can get to the college. If you don't live close enough, and the financial aid covers it, get a dorm.

I'm first year. I actually have 13 credits (2 less than recommended per semester) with precal, chem, lit, and some first year class. I feel like im going insane, every time I try to work I need to piss, eat, sleep. I swear I need to piss every 20-30 minutes and my piss will be yellow because I didn't even drink anything. And I admit get distracted by youtube.

as I said in the OP I don't understand anything my precal prof teaches and chem is hard to follow as well. Lit is a lot of work but doable as well as the other class, just stressful all combined.
