It's always been like this. If you were a true oldfag you'd know why. It's because every day hundreds of people discover 4chan for the first time. Across the major boards there is always a person who is posting for the first time in any given thread at any given time. In fact I bet even this thread has someone posting for the first time in it.

Every time you see someone get baited it's someone who's only been visiting the site for less than a month. The reason it happens so often is because every month you have thousands of new posters. Hence the endless baiting.

It would drop significantly if new IP addresses weren't allowed to post until 90 days after first visiting the site.

I've been "reddit spacing" since 2005 when I immigrated to /a/ from SA. If anything lack of spacing, capitalization, and punctuation proves you're a phone poster which is actually worse than a newfag. Phone posters will never contribute meaningful posts as long as they're limited to a touch screen keyboard.

Along with temp banning new IP's, posting from a mobile device should be perma banned. Phone posters are responsible for the largest drop in quality over the past 5 years across the site.

Being "ironically retarded" only works when you have consistent board culture. The reason why "hivemind" and the like is no longer popular is because there sre too many newfags diluting the board and preventing a stabilization of culture. I visit 4chan from my phone a lot, but you're right: typing a meaningful post with a touch keypad is tedious and causes me to think twice about even replying. 99% of my phonefagging is browsing so if the ability to reply were disabled completely I wouldn't care much.
