What job do you do? Do you like it? How much do you make?

>manager at a call center
>actually don't hate it because I spend most of my time reading comics online and listening to music
>occasionally send off an email about somebody else's fuckup and sometimes take supervisor calls

The only downside is I only make 13 an hour but it's enough to live more comfortably than the people I'm supposed to be in charge of.

When I worked at a call center, I always suspected my "manager" didn't know much more than me.

I can almost imagine that you were my former boss. Is the call center on the second floor of a two story building? Is the parent company based out of Australia? Is there an elementary school and a park directly adjacent to the building? (If the answer was "yes" to all three of those, well...)

To be honest i do know a lot more than my employees do, that's how I got where I am. I know how our system works, it's just that my current position doesn't require much effort, but it does require a lot of implementing said knowledge when I'm on supervisor calls or fixing agent fuckups. There are a lot of those and I've had to give so much free shit away because of agent mistakes.
There is a park directly adjacent but I'm in America in a five story building.

I work as a cashier at a grocery store. I used to be a total shut in and never talk to people, but my job has helped me to better converse with normalfags. I'm still a total autist on the inside though. I enjoy it mostly because I make some old people genuinely happy when I talk to them and my co workers like me. I only make like $9.30 and hour though. I just don't ask much out of life.

>What job do you do?
Software Engineer

>Do you like it?
I went from enjoying, to hating it, back to enjoying it all within a year.

> How much do you make?
70k annually

The time I hated my job was six months after starting. After finishing my first project successfully, a random higher-up took notice of me and forced me onto his upcoming project. Rather than writing software (like I was hired to do), the role was installing some other company's software for a client, which any idiot could do.

I felt like my brain was wasting away and became morbidly depressed while on that project. Eventually, I threatened to quit if I wasn't taken off. Thankfully, the person who hired me realized how depressed I had become and helped get me off the project. Now, I'm back to developing software and even help train the newest hires on best practices for our internal software.

Well I don't NOT like it. Its better than my last job as overnight manager at burger king
>How much do you make
$9 an hour, 50 cents less than burger king

Its not a terrible job but its REALLY fucking boring. All you do is take scanned images of birth certificates and enter them into a database for 8 hours. The hardest parts are staying awake and focus, and keeping the music on my phone fresh and updated so I don't have to listen to the same songs every day. Would be nice if I had an internet connection to stream new music but there are no wifi signals and the building is so big I barely get signal for mobile data. Not that I could use data anyways as its mostly used by my mother

>>
>>39333141
Same desu, just I had very little direction and training back there, so I would just try and do whatever everyone else was doing and mangaed to keep up. What I meant is badically I had to find something to do myself for the entirety of my shift on my own back there, and hope I didn't get yelled at for some bullshit. Things are just so much more straight forward in the front end honestly.

I used to have some respect for police. Then I got arrested for possession and now I'd rather bleed out than call 911 and have to trust or deal with any law enforcement officer or someone who works with them.

I met decent cops beforehand and I also met some who were dicks (almost every officer involved with my arrest was unnecessarily disrespectful, understandably), now I can't help but assume the latter of all police.

Makes sense. They service the government, not citizens.

I was good at that as well, but taking call after call.. even though I could be friendly and people would say how grateful they were for my "excellent service" (while digging my nails into my neck with stress) was unbearable. Then, half a second later, the phone rings, and it all starts again, over and over.

I can see how it would be far better in a managerial position where you're not constantly talking and thinking. I prefer manual/mindless labor.
>>
>>39333254
I like death grips but I don't like beer. Also I separate real life from online life, sorry anon.
>>
>>39333344
It's okay, I mean I deal with the most pissed off of customers but that usually means that the agent didnt' give them the right info or told them something that pissed them off.
I usually get 10 mins average between calls as opposed to 2 mins maximum between calls I had as an agent.
The difference is that now I have a lot more projects to work on during the day as opposed to calls that really only involved working on a said issue for a small amount of time. So now I have to keep a constant log of what I'm supposed to be doing.
Other than that it's kind of easier because the rules are a lot more lax for me but it's more stressful because I have to worry about making good decisions.

Heroin, meth, other amphetmines and opiates, MDMA, weed, ketamine, RCs, LSD, benzodiazepines, and some other stuff.

I'm an idiot.

But I was never a total junkie/tweaker. Been doing that stuff for 5-6 years and had a strict schedule I stuck to, to limit tolerance and avoid dependence on any particular substance. I held a decent job and was regularly seen as one of the top few members of my team. Clean now, but now is also a time in my life when I could really use that shit.

But like I said, I understand why the cops were making fun of me and being rude. They couldn't even pronounce most of the drugs I had and had to look up pills online while reporting it all.
>>
>>39333383
Good to hear it's more enjoyable for you now.

I don't work there anymore. I was thinking of going back to school for a trade, like plumbing or something. But I prefer working alone over anything. I hated being on the phone, I hated meeting/talking with my team, I was always in a bad mood, but nobody noticed. They all thought I was very positive and dedicated.

But I also don't really mind hating work. That's how it has always been with work for me. And it's exactly what I expected while in school; I never got my hopes up so they were never stepped on.

The only job I enjoyed was maintenance at my old pool club. Got to choose my own hours, blow leaves off the tennis court, fix fences while listening to music.. that I miss, but the pay wouldn't keep me alive now.

Yes. I was at a phone call center for two years. I know what a soul-crushing job is; pulling up to the building every day and willing myself out of my vehicle into the building for eight hours a day; wanting to shoot myself every time the phone rang.

I enjoy working where I am. Users are entertaining, problems are sometimes a major challenge, figuring out fixes makes you a hero, coworkers are cool, leadership is fucking useless, everything breaks every other week on a higher level than we control so most of the time we sit on our hands and talk about movies and joke around.

There are some that're bimonthly (1 every 2 months) and there are a lot that are yearly. The issue is that insurance keeps denying my claims to cover them, because they want me to only have the bimonthlies every year and the yearlies every five years.

I petitioned it a lot, but every time I try to do something, they tie it up in court and I mess up on the paperwork or something and then it gets dropped and I have to start at zero.

I tried getting an attorney, but the attorney was more expensive than the medical payments.

I'm honestly just hoping that we move to single payer so I don't have to literally kill myself working just to ensure that I'll live to a decent age.

Last year cost around 27000 though because I had cancer in my ass (not a joke). This year also looks like it'll cost 27000 because I got it removed this year and diagnosed last year, so I've had to pay my maximum out of pocket twice.

I'm the IT guy at a large inner-city middle school. It's pretty fun and rewarding in the micro-sense: lots of old ladies that bring in baked goods every other day, many days off including summers, a lot of satisfaction coming from fixing things with my hands every day, kids that think I'm cool because I'm the "computer guy", many different odd high-tech toys to play with, etc.

Only downside is pay. Can't really get ahead only taking home about $2,100 a month after all the taxes/mandatory teacher retirement system allocations. That would usually be enough for a comfy NEETesque lifestyle, but my city has a crazy high cost of living. Currently trying to find a proper sysadmin gig, but the competition is fierce with tons of STEM graduates floating around.

i got hired, no experience, no references, at 27. Went to a job fair for a supermarket, they were opening a new location. Talked to the interviewer, she circled one of my choices, wrote down a dollar figure and offered me the job. Did the drug test and did orientation two days later. Trained for the new location, it's since opened and now I have work history and references if I want to leave.

It's ok I guess. Learning to back into parking spaces and loading docks was the shittiest part. Lots of other shitty parts but boredom is the worst now

I might not have a job Monday. I've been doing backups, and when one hasn't been going well, I decided to do a chkdsk on the original drive... the chkdsk started going rigorously at the same spot some of the other backups did. The other backups which, while weren't working the first place, ended up just as poorly after the chkdsk. I really hope I didn't fuck up a senior guys system which wasn't up-to-date because he needed older shit to run on it.

Why can't people live off of minimum wage anyway? If you're smart you can share a place for ~500/m, and eat for ~600/y. Factor in utilities and that's another 150/m, you'd have money to spare even if you worked low hours. Assuming of course you manage your resources to peak efficiency and zero waste. That's still less than 9000 a year.

You'll just have to suck up your pride and do a minimum wage job.

I am learning web dev as a hobby for now. Still trying to perfect CSS and HTML to know what is all possible and make things just happen in my folder laboratory. Hoping to get into javascript soon. Trying to understand it all and get the best practice. Only has like 2 hours a day to learn because I am a wagekek.

I havent think about trying to pursue it professionaly. Is it realistic without a degree or I should just let is as glorified hobby? I am 26 and Im sure it would take me at least year from now to know something relevant but I dont believe I can get in at this age without a degree or?

I'm doing the same, been studying for 4 days a week for roughly 6 months and now doing unpaid internship because I need to experience, no degrees but I might try to shoot for some certificates, like a Zend Certified PHP certificate, just for the heck of it, looks good on your resume.

I can get by but there is so much I don't know and I my pace is too slow since I don't want to write pajeet-tier code.
Started out with PHP and the HTML/CSS, but now doing mostly javascript, which is kinda fun but the pressure kills me sometimes.
Maybe I'll look for a different workplace, the one I'm at now is nice but it's small and a bit chaotic which can be frustrating at times.

I'd be happy to do this a little longer, for a small salary just so I can get by, safe a bit of money and get my life in the stable zone for once.
If I manage that, I'd love to get my hands on a motorcycle license, that's kinda what motivates me to keep going.

the solution for this is very simple, dont be a FUCKING pedo filth, the other kindergarten teachers and the institution would have my back, plus, you are never alone with the children during nap and diaper changing and stuff, always at least 2 teachers
