Steam plant operator. Truthfully sometimes things get hectic and there's work to be done but you sit around and do nothing a lot. Homer Simpson's representation of a nuclear plant operator isn't far from the truth except those guys actually get paid extremely well.

What kind of training did you have to do to get this job? Did you go to college? How much does it pay specifically?

I went to college for Power Engineering at Cambrian College in Ontario, but it's not necessary to go to college for certification. The TSSA runs the show in Canada and you just have to write their exams and work under training for a while to get your fourth class certification, and it goes up to first class. I make $30 CAD/hour as a third class operator but I'm considerably underpaid where I work for my certification but second class certification is highly desirable so I'm working towards that so I can get a higher paying job in a nicer city. Second class pay is $45/hour or higher, and one of my coworkers left here for a $60/hour job at a nuclear plant as a third.
