Exact same situation here except everyone already knows people. I'm the only one who doesn't know anyone. If I were you, I'd befriend her just to have someone to be with.

I tried for 3 days to befriend her, believe me, but she just pushes everyone away. I don't really mind not having friends tho, so it's all good really. Have a ton of friends from old school that I still chat with online
