Ah, found my school. I still remember all the street names.

The girl I fell in love with. One fond memory that I have of her was sometime during winter. It was several hours after school and it was already dark, no other students around. She left the school building with her mother, I forget what I was doing there so late. She wore a long black coat and scarf and looked cute as always. She stopped in front of me and asked what I was doing, and after some idle chatter she wished me a good night. That stuck with me ever since. I still remember her address.

No. At times like these I just look them up on facebook and consider making a genuine account just to add them and talk to them, especially the girl I talked about. I doubt they would have forgotten about me, since I was one of the few half breed in an otherwise homogeneous nation. I seriously consider this, but I'm far too detached from my home country (Poland) that I'm not sure that it would work out well. And then of course I'm a robot, whilst they at least lead proper social lives.

Hmm. I'm going to go do this now. Will report back with the feels.

Apparently the house I grew up in was for sale recently. I guess it was converted in to an upper/lower duplex at some point. Same building structure but the basement suite was expanded to occupy the entire lower level.

I dunno how I feel about that. Looks like my next door neighbour's family is still in the same place, same classic cars in the driveway. Keep in mind it has been 24 years since I last lived in this house and city.

Wait. Holy shit. I can't believe it.

This is the south side of the field of my old elementary school. That ramshackle skating rink is still there after all these years. Looks like same wooden fencing too. That fence was painted white once upon a time. I played shinny in this rink. Busted my nose open on a few occasions. It's bizarre to see it still there. The other side of the field with the playground equipment had been completely replaced with new "safer" swings and slides and such.

I sometimes think about the idea of going back and buying the old house. I don't know why. Maybe I think if I go back there, move back in, I can pretend that everything that happened in the interim since my family moved away the first time can be counted as a mulligan that never happened.

My childhood house had a beautiful garden and veranda, akin to a fairytale. Now the flowers have all been pulled and the veranda torn down, a clear representation of my life.
