Vitamin B12 is found in meat products like liver, fish, eggs, that sort of stuff. You can't find it in adequate amounts in vegetables. You can buy Vitamin B12 supplements though at whatever's your local pharmacy.
B12 is involved in making nucleotides that make RNA and DNA so Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause a megaloblastic anemia which means that you'll have a lower amount of RBCs and the RBCs that will be in your blood will be less mature and not as good as transporting oxygen. B12 deficiency can also cause neurological problems, even peripheral sensory loss, loss of gait, and confusion. It can also lead to psychiatric problems like depression.
You probably also have a Vitamin D deficiency because a lot of people do. I'd recommend getting supplements for that as well.

Oh and it can also cause loss of tone in the GI leading to diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.
I also forgot to say that B12 is stored in your liver and there's probably enough in your liver to last you about 3 to 5 years even if you took no B12 from your diet. It's still best to get supplements though.

>taking b12 vitamins for headaches for a month and the headaches don't go away
>still thinks the headaches are from a b12 deficiency
mate....drink more water, take an advil, turn down the volume and brightness on your devices and remember to blink and relax your eyes

I was more interested in how do you treat it if you're already deficient. I'm already taking methyl b12 500micrograms and vitamin d3 5000iu daily
still feel deficient constant mental fatigue. maybe not absorbing it.
is methyl b12 the best? what else is there? can you get injections w/o insurance?

it's b12 deficiency. drink plenty of water and it's constant.

what's best treatment money can buy if a person is extremely deficient. whats diff between coblan and methyl. what else is there
>>39232318
how in the FUCK can you specifically attribute your headache to a b12 deficiency. Do you have any idea how many different things cause headaches as a side effect
>>39232355
I starting supplementing with methyl b12 and OMG my quality of life improved 1000% you have no idea. b12 supplements pretty much saved my life. I have a feeling they're only working temporary though

I've read methylcobalamin is better absorbed. I'm not sure about costs or insurance because I'm still a med student.
Do you know if you have some GI problem? Like have you had surgery there, tapeworms, or IF-deficiency? This could affect how B12 is taken up in your body.
>get b12 supplements
>hope that this will finally be the solution to being tired all the time and hating everything
>it wasn't
FUCK FUCK FUCK
You should get actual tests for pernicious aenemia or other conditions for b12 deficiency, don't just go off your own feelings.
If you're shown to have a condition like that, injections are probably what you'll use because by definition you can't absorb it the other way.
Some people can't absorb it in which case you have no choice but to inject it directly into your liver

none of the above. I used to smoke marijuana and I worried if that bad habit contributed to my deficiency. also had complete shit diet. no meat at all for years
what about this? worried if I go to doc gonna have to pay out of pocket for multiple visits for bloodwork etc

>no meat at all for years
Yeah that's an issue. I'd recommend just seeing a doctor and getting bloodwork done. Check your other vitamins as well. You might have a folate deficiency and that may be messing up how you use B12 in the body. And I'd recommend Vitamin D supplements too.

thanks anon@ you're the best
you have any advice on how to go about seeking a doc with no insurance etc. I'm completely clueless and can't think cause of mental fatigue
>>39232515
As long as you have the cash it isn't an issue. Just go to a bigger hospital instead of a small clinic.

you are schizophrenic, do you realize how little it requires to get enough B12? You probably arent deficient, have you even been to the doctor every month to confirm this? Hundreds of things can cause headaches.

I already told you I started supplementing In April and quality of life improved 1000%. I do believe suffering from b12 deficiency put me at lot higher risk for developing mental health issue. I believe it's b12deficiency that causes mental health issue excluding people that have genetic predesposition for the mental health disorder? Make sense?
