Lad, I wrote this in the other thread. My thoughts on Song for the Deaf. Great album basically, so is their first one. Lullabies to Paralyse is meh but I'm not a huge fan of Era Vulgis, it's quite repetitive but has a few bangers. Make it with chu and Into the Hollow are 2 of the albums best there. But yeah, here's what I think of Songs for the Deaf album:

The Songs For the Deaf album is, in my opinion, another absolute masterpiece from the band. This being but a mere 'hidden track' shows the calibre of the songs in that album.

It has a much more upbeat rocky sound to the album, containing songs such as 'Go With the Flow( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcHKOC64KnE )' and 'No One Know's( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s88r_q7oufE )', being a few of their most recognised tracks.

A real turning point in their music, being their third studio album. Released in 2002, the culture had already begun the shift towards what we are seeing today; trashy pop artists and mindless entertainment that rot society. The album, and band, thankfully steered their ever increasing truck of popularity away from that shit and continued to produce their unique tunes.

With a good upbeat rocky feel to the album, they didn't fain to throw in a few more experimental track, 'Six Shooter' being one of them. This gives a third dimension to the album, and the band. Not afraid to try something new, but know when to curb their experimental side in favour of the genre they are, argubly, the kings of.

As an album that propelled the band forward to influence many bands, on being 'Highly Suspect' who have begun to see plenty of success, this album stood as a turning point in the culture-crossroads of the time and continues it's success to this day.

I started watching this YouTube channel called 'Abroad In Japan'. Apart from the editing/humour being pretty good, I've started obsessing over Japan.

I don't have a solid reason, but I guess there is something about QOTSA that is not liked by the masses. I love Josh's voice and their whole style. Muse I guess are for pretty straight cut guys and their music is quite political so attacts a different audience. Foo Fighters are a bit different they are more of a mainstream rock band with their gay Converse shoes and edgy but not too edgy hair cuts and style. A bit more melody in their music which isn't always good; sometimes it's just catchy which is how pop artists get along these days.

QOTSA are very unique in their style and never have catered to people; they've maintained their seperate styles over the years and experimented. They are much more independant and are similar to like some highschool kids garage band. DO what they want and love to do it for the fun and creativity, freedom too. The others are far more corparate; kinda like a buisness.

I like some of Muse' stuff and some of Foo's stuff but it seems like they play it safe when writing songs. They become quite samey. Saying that, Foo's masterpiece everlong is great and pretty different to many of their other songs. And that didn't take off well at all, the acoustic version was more popular at one point.

Some bands are creativity and music focused, others love those dollar signs.
