Thoughts on this painting I did?
I'll dump some more - I have a bunch.
gotta include some text cuz picture only posts aren't allowed

I like blue/pink/gray, so even If I can't make out what the fuck it's supposed to be I kinda like it
oakskejdjhd
This is genuinely fucking awful anon, what the fuck is it supposed to represent? It's literally nothing, just a bunch of colours thrown together. The only redeeming factor is if it were aesthetically pleasing, which is subjective.I don't find it aesthetically pleasing.
"Modern Art" is degenerate.

These fucking suck, you are everything wrong with art. STOP smearing shitty colours on the paper and "expressing yourself". Go fucking learn actual draughtsmanship and try again in a few years. You have to know the rules to break them, you complete and utter shitter.
>>39005562
>>39005552
just trolls.
i like your style op. HOWEVER; you are on the wrong website. go to an actual art website ie deviantart or tumblr to be around a community of people who won't just say
>hurr durr not art bc i dont like it hurr durr
>>39005285
>>39005319
i like these. i don't know anything about art though. but i would hang those two on my wall :)
Hi OP, there is nothing wrong with what you are doing. The color depicts that you're sad, maybe a little angry. The shape reflects hopelessness in searching for meaning.
Here is a recording I made that I call "#1 Bass C for 36 Bars in Allegro."
http://vocaroo.com/i/s13WNevwjUAd
These are nice, op. Thanks for posting and keep doing what you like to do.
>>39005285
Impressive. Dumping paint of different colors onto a canvas repeatedly.
may these be used as texture overlays?
you could probably make a few bucks selling them in zip. files for that.
>>39005500
paint an actual object and stop splattering paint on the canvas and calling it art
>>39005581
No, not trolls. I challenge OP to post a photorealistic rendering he has made. He won't be able to because he lacks draughting ability, and cannot properly render a real life object to save his life, so he instead cowers behind the "abstract" while neglecting his technical skills. The idea that art is purely about expression of the self, and is subjective, is killing art. Art is about aesthetics, art is a trade. Like any trade, you cannot be considered a practicioner of it until you have trained for years. OP is a fraud and a pretender, and you're a complete pseud for thinking this """"art"""" has any merit whatsoever. I wholeheartedly agree that OP - and by extension - should fuck off to tumblr or deviantart though. You'll definitely fit in there.
>>39005642
Sorry, clicked the wrong file. That is actually "#2 Bass G for 36 Bars in Allegro (Healing Water Workshop)"
Here is "#1 Bass C for 36 Bars in Allegro."

While I'm at it, here's "#3 Bass D for 36 Bars in Allegro"
http://vocaroo.com/i/s1zgpGZDuu0R
>>39005581
The only thing redeeming about the painting is that it has a nice aesthetic. But you see, you need both aesthetic AND a depiction of something. I cant describe art, but ill know it when i see it.
"#4 Bass A for 36 Bars in Allegro" is one of my favorites
http://vocaroo.com/i/s1tocJl1SprT
For a change of pace, "#5 Bass E for 36 Bars in Allegro" is a little funky
http://vocaroo.com/i/s00EnO38iZAL
Moving around the circle of fifths back past C, you find a nifty little tune entitled "#12 Bass F for 36 Bars in Allegro"

Flac is just a meme. Don't pretend you hear the difference.
>>39005981
file formats are memetic by nature so that they can be opened by many clients
you can especially hear the difference with flac in from 2kHz+, think 's' sounds and cymbals

I like these, OP. Fuck anybody who gets down on you for them.
As for thoughts on the first one, there's more depth to it when I keep looking at it. It's interesting how little yellow you actually wound up using and where you put it.
Are you painting music or emotions by any chance? These look a lot like songs.
>>39006811
Do you have any works that aren't abstract? They don't look bad visually but if you can't create realistic art or practice good fundamentals then I can't respect the paintings provided.
this is all useless trash
learn how to paint
>>39007233
I ask because some of them actually look sorta familiar.
>>39005400
for instance, looks A LOT like this one
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-Ko6TIY-iQ
and the one you posted right after it looks a lot like some of Sleater-Kinney's more psychedelic stuff. I have to wonder if you're painting sounds or feelings or scents or something.
>>39005464
I like how I can make out skull structure even with this as abstract as it is.
>>39005685
Fucking this.
I've seen so many autists that refuse to acknowledge that they have no true ability, just because they figured out one way to make one thing kind of pretty.
Subjectivity has destroyed art.

please see >>39006178
Also instead of taking the time to dump a bunch of my paintings, you can view some at:

>>39007233
Thank you for taking the time to actually look.
Before commenting (not just on mine, but on ANY painting), someone should look for AT LEAST 30 seconds and note what they notice.
As for your question, I don't (consciously) paint certain songs. Although, I do usually listen to music when I paint, so they may be influenced by that.
I am the worst artist of anyone I know and I could still flick shit onto a canvas.
-3/10
>>39005319
This ones good. Personally, I prefer lack of high contrast colors, espically black. I stay the hell away from black. But if it's your style go for it! Looking good friendo and I can definitely see skill.
>>39007607
the perspective on that man's face is off, his eyes look on an even plane though his head is tilted to his right, and the painting lacks detail and depth of tone. It's not awful, don't get me wrong, but for your own sake you should focus more on fundamentals before falling for the abstract meme
bumpin with yet another painting

Art is now no longer about copying a real world object.
We have cameras for that. Art is about expressing an idea or feeling with anything you wish.
Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's not art. And OP is not a professional artist in the sence that he has not yet sold any painting.
>>39008784
>OP is not a professional artist in the sence that he has not yet sold any painting.
I've sold 5 paintings (and gotten 2 commissions) since I set up my etsy shop a few days ago and I sold a charcoal drawing earlier this summer.
>>39008784
You're missing the point. Art isn't about copying a real life object, but being able to copy with photorealism is a basic foundational skill that you need to know before you can make works of proper aesthetic beauty and expression. Joinery may not be about making mortice joints, but you can't make a beautiful piece of furniture without one.
>>39005562
This is true. It's kind of become a hack to abstract poor art until the critique of its poor and unlearned quality can be dismissed as backwardness.
Applying your colorful style with actual well-made images would look really nice, OP. You're on the right track. Keep practicing and learn your fundamentals. ic can give you a basic gestalt.
>>39008488
do you even know what that term means?
>>39008784
>"no, of course i haven't read anything about aesthetics or theories of art, but why would i let that stop me from making an insipid 'contribution?'"
>>39005285
I like the colors/ composition/ hidden shapes
normally i fucking hate "le abstract art" but this is one which has actual tone to it. Easy to pick up. As a lazy asshole, I like it
>>39008911
Yeah, the composition of colour in some of his stuff looks nice, just a shame he's taking that sense of colour and wasting it on abstract garbage.
Like the first. The rest look like ass.
>>39005285
I mean, they look pretty. I would probably get one to hang on my bedroom wall if I could buy them for a reasonable price. That said, I don't think it takes any real artistic talent to make these. Even cartoony looking doodles take more skill to draw than this stuff.
>>39009454
You can buy one off my etsy store for only $10. They're so cheap cuz they're on 6in. x 4in. postcards.
Let me know which one you want and I'll put it on my store and post the link.

solid advice from >>39007747. Maybe train your hand/wrist/shoulder etc. to control your strokes better.

:)
Contrary to what other people have been suggested, I did put quite a bit of detail into it.
>>39005285
