then my college forced me to buy a macbook
and holy fuck, was it worth it.
i dont get viruses, my computers never crashed, and its as fast as it was 4 years ago. fuckin amazing man. love my macbook pro

I pretty much am an average computer user though.

Windows didn't used to be this much of a hassle. I could set updates to off on older systems, and then update if I ran into problems. As it is now, updates seem to cause more problems than fix.

I never get viruses, and it only crashes occasionally now because it is old and it overheats, or some other component is getting old.

It is also fast enough for what I do (shit posting, document editing, torrenting)

I walked away from my computer for a few minutes back when they kept trying to shove Windows 10 down everyone's throats and it decided it was going to update to W10 right there. Crashed about halfway through and fried my OS. Had to reinstall Windows 8.1 and only had like half my files left. Deleted a ton of games and programs. Thankfully it hasn't tried pulling this shit on me again.

I really hate windows these days too. But I just can't deal with the way mac handles files, and I have a lot of edge case uses for little programs that I'm not sure I could find on Mac

There's an option for telling your computer that your internet is a metered connection, then it won't download and install updates without you telling it that you're no longer on a metered connection.

That's about it, there is no option to turn off updates.
