College has one purpose and that is to make an investment in a degree which will yield a reasonable return. It is not a place to learn. If you are simply interested in a topic, especially if that topic is not something that can easily become a career, then there is no reason to go to college. You can learn about virtually anything you want with a simple internet connection. There are dozens of universities offering free online classes, so you can sit at home and take courses for free if you want to learn that way.

Having a degree is no longer a guarantee of knowledge and someone who spends their time studying a subject independently is no longer at any kind of disadvantage when compared to someone attending college to study that same subject. So yes, unless you have a very clear career path planned out, then college is a waste of time and money.

Just go to a community college you spend much less and often times are done much quicker than you're contemporaries at a 4 year school.
the only reason to go to a 4 year school is if the degree you want can only be obtained there otherwise they're just massive money sinks.

DO you know ANYTHING at a 3rd or 4th year university level though? The other nice thing about getting a degree is that it forces you to take both humanities and sciences so you have to take some courses you don't necessarily like and challenge yourself in different ways which gives you a broader base of knowledge and broader perspective along with specialized knowledge and specialized perspective which is obviously the better way to live your life. It's a responsible democracy's duty to provide education but often they don't and that definitely sucks.

College is a rip off unless you're studying a STEM field everything else is just a way for the school to make more money since they literally teach nothing and you actually can just google everything they would teach you in those fields or look up resources you'd need to learn about a subject.

Since I spent all my time on my computer me and my friends taught ourselves how to code and program and we all work tech related jobs now without ever going to college. Only 1 of us went to college and he's in debt and poor as shit and he doesn't know anything more than the rest of us.

It depends on the subject. Med school is guaranteed to make your money back, STEM is also a pretty good bet, media stuff gets dicey unless you both meet the right people and are very good at brownnosing, but any of the "___ studies" is to be avoided even if everything is paid for already if only for your own sanity.

And a four-year degree isn't for everybody, vocational education and apprenticeships are perfectly valid paths with lucrative careers and hands-on learning.
