How does society keep functioning?

A man is hungry and cold, so he finds a job and gets paid a wage. He has to keep working to afford to stay fed and housed, so he does. This is how most people in society survive, all their individual efforts contribute to a larger machine that gives us roads, hospitals, airports and guns.

But what's the unseen force binding it all together? Kill one human or even a thousand and the system compensates and adapts and even becomes more robust. It's like humanities evolution has shifted from the individual to the group. Ideas and technology get passed down generations instead of beneficial DNA.

energy transferred to mass; the sun mainly gives us our energy

essentially, our sun is the reason society keeps functioning.

therefore, destroy the sun.
I like where this is going.

Capitalism.
>>
>>38951674
sexual hierarchy.

even more the capitalism this is what keeps humans going or stops them.

>>38951721
So you're saying the one true god is the sun itself?

If it fucks off we're all proper fucked. Even if we invent space station colonies we'd need solar power.

There's countries without capatalism that aren't pure chaos though

The only country that hasn't embraced some measure of capitalism at this point is North Korea, and they're only able to survive because they're basically subsidized by China.

there's bigger suns that really don't have perceivable/relevant effect on us atm, but if our sun disappeared, you'd solve the plague of humanity

>How does society keep functioning?
I've spent a lot of time wondering this.
But I will say...it's only been 250 years since the industrial revolution. Only 70 years since the modern age began. Only 25 years or so since the information age kicked off.

These are very short periods of time. I would be very surprised if this hyper-intense form of society lasts another 100 years. It's probably all a flash in the pan...a brief high from huffing petroleum products. Once the juice runs out we are going back to medieval times.
>>
>>38951927
Well then if capatalism is so prevalent why does it have so many problems?

A human has two arms because it's the most energy efficient composition. But capatalism has weaknesses like corruption, monopolies, giving power to dicks who fuck everyone over.
>>
>>38952038
Fucking over the common pleb is not a weakness. That's how natural selection has worked since the dawn of time. Also there are many ways in which the human body is not nearly as efficient as you seem to imply. Yes we have two arms, we also have an appendix that randomly bursts and kills us if it wasn't for modern medicine.
>>
>>38951999
Then we should consider ourselves lucky to be alive in the comfiest period of history. Thinking how great the future would be is bad enough, imagine how shitty it'd be to read about how advanced civilization had come and gone and you're stuck with your cottage in the mountains because we couldn't get enough Starbucks and iPhones.

>Well then if capatalism is so prevalent why does it have so many problems?
Humans have problems, capitalism is the best at harnessing those problems into productivity.

>capatalism has weaknesses like corruption
There is a strong correlation between economic freedom and less corruption. The more control the government has over the economy, the more likely it is to be corrupt.

>monopolies
Monopolies usually form as a result of government intervention. Things like Corporate personhood, limited liability, copyright laws, heavy taxes and regulations, tariffs, all inventions of the state which ensure that the business that gets into power, stays in power.

>giving power to dicks who fuck everyone over
Actually this is what capitalism is best at preventing, since the business owners can only get into power by providing services or goods that other people are willing to pay for. You become powerful by the people liking what you offer them, and if you stop offering them goods and services that they will like they another business will come in and take your place.

shut the fuck up faggot. it was always the duty of the strong to protect the weak. what even is the point of living in society if it's literally designed to fuck over the weaker people? kill yourself. you killed kings for this stupid shit. natural selection my ass people keep breeding and getting dumber and dumber. ill shoot you in the head, there. natural selection. fucking crook.

This is true to an extent, however, what if the company provides a service that you can't say no to, like hospitalization after an accident? Just look at how totally fucked healthcare is in the US compared to Europe. In Europe the government prevents hospital bills from putting you in debt for the rest of your life.

>what if the company provides a service that you can't say no to, like hospitalization after an accident?
It's likely that the possibility of another hospital opening as competition would prevent them from abusing their position. If the hospital decides to charge a million bucks for a trip to the ER, the people will know, and a 2nd hospital would open up that wouldn't completely fuck over the patients for getting into an accident, so in order to prevent this the hospital would keep their costs reasonable.

>Just look at how totally fucked healthcare is in the US compared to Europe
Right now we have taken the worst of the socialist healthcare systems and the private healthcare systems. We were actually better off when healthcare was completely privatized.

Humans live in societies, which form a structure for and around them. that structure enables them to live in relative comfort and peace and allows them to procreate with certainty that their children won't die because of disease/hunger/war.

We created our own environment, separate from the natural biosphere that our ancestors belonged to and so, tamed our immedate nature. The problem begins when a man, totally cut off from the real, natural world, begins to subsist solely on the artifice of the manufactured and imaginary and mires himself in sickness, both mental and physical, that prevents him from seeing the world in is true colours.

Don't sit in front oa computer alll day, go on a trip, hiking, cycling, anything that will get you out into the fresh air and get blood pumping in your veins. You are not a full human being if the human body you have rots away in artificial caves starting at artificial light.

These two statements go hand in hand.

>what even is the point of living in society if it's literally designed to fuck over the weaker people?
Society is a pecking order. The strong rise to the top and the weak die out. I don't like it either and I definitely don't consider myself among the strong but that simply the way it is.

and the strangest thing is our personalities and individualism. ants and termites, the only other creatures who act on the benefit of the whole instead of the one, are nothing like us except in that aspect. an ant doesn't have a personality. its closer to a machine than living being.

The second hospital could also charge the same amount to keep the prices artificially inflated, since people have to pay anyway. Also when you're in an accident they bring you to the closest hospital, not the cheapest one. All hospital prices should be regulated, so you don't have to risk your life over a bill.

>The second hospital could also charge the same amount to keep the prices artificially inflated, since people have to pay anyway
If it charges less, then it would gain more customers and thus profit even more than the first hospital, potentially even driving the first hospital out of business entirely.

>Also when you're in an accident they bring you to the closest hospital, not the cheapest one
With the government ambulance, that's true. Privatized ambulances would go to the hotel that you want.

>natural selectiion is when the bad genes die out and they definitely arent

They will when every low wage employee and factory worker gets replaced by robots like what has already been happening for the last 20 years.

>you killed kings for modernism and crook leaders

>>
>>38952439
>If it charges less, then it would gain more customers and thus profit even more than the first hospital, potentially even driving the first hospital out of business entirely.
Except the first hospital would just lower its own prices and then you get a trade war where each hospital tries to undercut the other until the prices are way lower than either would prefer. Both hospitals would know about and fear this potential situation so they would avoid it by forming some sort of trade guild like what has often happened throughout history. That way the prices get pinned down and stay high, the hospitals get filthy rich and the common man is fucked.

That's capitalism for ya.

>That way the prices get pinned down and stay high
Then a 3rd hospital opens up that's willing to offer cheap services, then if the same thing happens a 4th hospital opens up, on and on until one of the hospitals decides its worth it to fuck over the other hospitals for their own profit.
>>

>Then a 3rd hospital opens up that's willing to offer cheap services, then if the same thing happens a 4th hospital opens up, on and on until one of the hospitals decides its worth it to fuck over the other hospitals for their own profit.
And in the meantime people are dying. And one hospital finally puts all the others out of business the competition is gone, the prices start rising again and we start the whole mess all over again. Extremism is never the answer. Extremist capitalism with absolutely no government intervention is just as non-functional as communism. I find that the truth often lies somewhere in the middle.
