I feel that a healthy amount of skepticism is necessary in the world we live in. I understand that the way sciences are taught at schools may lead one into believing that he's being indoctrinated, and has to accept those axiomatic statements like absolute truth, just the way religious people do with their scriptures.
But here comes the amazing thing about sciences, and it's the founding principle behind scientific knowledge: you can test it. You can experiment it. You can put it to prove, and if it's true, it will always show it, because that's the principle of science: describing the phenomenons of the world with general laws, thus predicting the outcome of a know event with great deal of certainty.
You can repeat the experiments that led great men of the past to conclude that the earth was round right now, from your room window. You can reproduce these experiments with very simple astronomical tools that you can craft with daily objects. You can see for yourself. See and then believe, the opposite of faith.
Of course as science gets more complex, your power of testing diminishes. You will hardly be able to reproduce Rutherford's experiment with radioactive alfa particles and a thin plate of gold. And you will probably never get to experience yourself the tests of the large hardron collider. So you can continue to doubt modern atomistica. But the flat earth thing... Just see it for yourself and drop the tinfoil hat.

I am 100% sure you're trolling. But for anyone else interested, let me explain some things about the Van Allen belts.

The Van Allen belts are far above low-earth orbit. They're totally irrelevant to most space-flight.

They're not like brick walls in space that kill you the instant you touch them. They're usually pretty weak; you'd experience about as much radiation as you would from a few hundred X-rays. Definitely not fatal. Further, they move and change strength depending on the solar wind. During a solar storm, they ARE dangerous, you might actually die from it. But at their weakest they're barely there. All missions that head for other planetoids wait for the belts to weaken so as to expose their craft to as little radiation as possible. This was especially true of the Apollo missions. They received about as much radiation as 10 X-rays. I've had more than that at my dentist's office. If your house has a basement, you probably have had more than that from the radon.
