Yes a diet orientated to lifting will help your gains, but as a beginner just focus on eating more protien and calories, or more protien and less calories(if you are over weight) As a beginner you will see gains even if you just lift and dont change your diet. I started working out 5-6 days a week, by building a home gym. I can look like an idiot and nobody can judge me for it. It's been a month and I've doubled my bench (from 45 to 90; still baby weight, but it's progress).

All the guys you see in magazines and on YouTube are top 5% genetically, can eat/train all day as it's their job and are on drugs (plus good angles/lighting)

Building your strength up is good but unless you're willing to take drugs to go further it's not worth stressing about too much

Best way of doing things is to just lift heavy and mix your workouts up, train for fun instead of some autistic boring program you hate doing and don't obsess over your diet too much

While wearing sweaters and other cold weather clothing people still thought that i was buff even though my belly and chest were soft as were my arms.

I also gained 20 pounds which at my height did not show at all until near the end of a warm spring when i decided to lose weight again.
