Not sure exactly but I always presumed its because we here in the UK are much less likely to lose a job over being rude to a customer. It probably also helps that our general attitude is pretty unsocial compared to Americans.

A lot of non-Americans fail to understand how diverse the US is. The US is one of the largest countries in the world, geographically and population-wise. The culture differs regionally; we have the south, the northwest, the northeast, the midwest. It is absolutely bonkers how others, especially Europeans, try to stereotype a massive country of 320+ million people. Maybe that works for Euro countries, but not America. The US is huge and we have dozens of unique major cities that boast their own identities and flairs.

That being said, the south is the most underdeveloped and uneducated part of the US full of fake ass people. The West is a close second. The midwest (Ohio, Michigan, Illinois) is real America and is the best part, along with the east coast in general (everything above North Carolina). People in small towns pry on each other constantly. In a city people make a clear distinction between friends and family and simple interaction with no personal attachment. I'm still polite and act like my mom told me to but I'm relieved I don't have to pretend to care about some random guy who just happened to purchase a house physically near mine. My friends are a group of hand picked individuals I know I enjoy talking to, not just people that happen to be nearby.

Most of the people on here are losers and other generally shit subgroups of society who everyone hates, why would you want someone to be honest about how they feel about you? Besides if customer service is shitty why would I want to go to your business? I can at least cook simple meals and they have self checkout lines in most grocery stores.
