Why do job applications ask for hobbies and interests /r9k/? I don't do anything but play video games. That doesn't help. I can't very well put "Discussion of high quality Japanese animation" and "fetish pornography".

I've never filled out a job application which asked for hobbies and interests.
Which sucks because I actually have hobbies and interests outside of shitposting. Got a wagecuck job anyways though, so it's all good.
>>
No job application has ever asked for my hobbies and interests, either. That's usually something the interviewer asks when they're chewing the fat.

If it requires that you list something, just write something somewhat hobbyish but nevertheless professional like programming or computer hardware and software repair. Even if you don't know jack about either one, just tell them that those are things you're looking at doing or just got into.

The best is yet to come anon.

During interview

>Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

just make something up? Say some vague shit like reading or watching movies
>>
>>38872368
i always say something like "computer programming" or "drone flying", something that sounds smart. I actually do these occasionally, but i'm fairly sure employers dont actually care
>>
>>38872368
just make shit up fucker, it's not like they're ever going to ask you about your fucking stamp collection. Just pick something normie you did like once and vaguely enjoyed and write it down. It's a fucking job application, it's literally supposed to be at least 80% bullshit.

it's really just a normie test

to see if you can name something that normal people do, they don't want to hire weirdos like us

just lie like everyone else

The next time someone asks me "What are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?" In an interview, I am just straight up gonna tell them I like to jerk off and play videogames. Getting tired of hearing that stupid question and getting nowhere.
>>
>>38872903
If you leave out the video games part, and are interviewing with a gruff and rough bossman who has a sense of humor, he might actually think that's funny.
Construction site, heavy manual labor kind of jobs, you'd definitely find a boss like that there.
>>
>>38872903
No, that's incredibly stupid

Better than telling a lie.

Yeah I know, I just think it would be kinda funny to see thier expression. Interviews don't get you a job unless you're Chad anyways, might as well get some fun out of it for them wasting your time
>>

>Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

That's the thing that really grinds my gears. these idiots pretend I should be certain about my life and have some le grande plan and muh ambition

meanwhile what they what to hear is chained to a yoke and wageslaving still
>>

>Interviews don't get you a job unless you're Chad
This statement is not true in the slightest.
I think you've been spending too much time here, even more than me, because you've obviously fallen for /r9k/ propaganda.
What jobs have you been applying for?
>>
>>38872368

That's weird because resume coaches will tell you NOT to put anything "personal" on there. I agree with just putting something normie, that might serve as a conversation starter, so they think you are at least a little bit well-rounded. Put "Japanese culture" if you're really into animation, but also just something like trivia or reading (in which case, think of the name of a normie book to say you read recently).
>>
>>38873141
Wat? If you're doing a face to face, that means you've got past HR, and on paper you are a good fit for the role.

You do interviews because the people doing the hiring want to see your personality and to see if you'd integrate well with the company
>>
>>38872368
Never saw an application say that, but even if it did just put shit reading books or watching Netflix in. At least half of the process in getting a job is either saying white lies or just saying the right things to get it. Don't think too much about it unless you're getting the chance to become a board member at Microsoft or something.
>>
Something vague yet roughly defined. History, electronics, automobiles, firearms, etc.
>>
>>38873199
Just be honest with the interviewer.
I told my boss when he interviewed me that my plan was to work, make some money to do whatever with, and spend my free time surfing, snowboarding, and playing guitar. That I'd figure it out when I get there.
He thought my honesty was funny and a welcome relief. I got the job, and it's honestly the best wagecucking job I could've hoped for.
Just tell them the truth with a dry edge in your voice and the right wording. Don't just tell them your plan is to jerk off to anime porn for the next five years. Think up something that is truthful, but don't undersell yourself at the same time.
Something like, "I see myself working for $8 or $9 bucks an hour, and spending part of that money on gas to get here."
My boss is a very chill guy, so just remember to try and gauge the interviewer. Most of them will probably think your honesty is good, because they hate to hear people prattle on about how they want to become a biologist or whatever else. They'll be more inclined to give you the job in fact because now they know you have no other foreseeable prospects, so you'll be anchored to your job.

It's true I spend a lot of time here, I would consider myself to be a robot except I've got work experience and have had sex (albeit more than 5 years ago). I've been trying to make a change from construction, because I hate construction. I had an interview at Starbucks, an interview for a warehouse position, and an interview for a company that uses cnc machines to do milling work.

Starbucks said they went with someone else and the other two haven't called me back, it's been 3 weeks.

>>38873243
Yeah but I mean, I fucking aced those interviews, bought myself a nice marching suit, hemmed the pants and ironed the clothes, studied and practiced all the standard interview questions and even made interesting conversation with these people. I honestly don't know what I could have done to make it better, shits pissing me off I've been searching for a job for months now.

Guess it doesn't help that there's 200+ applicants that applied to each job, it's hard out here for a pimp.
>>
>>38873512
I know what that's like, not getting an answer from potential employers.
The truth (which I got from my Dad, the epitome of the handshake Dad meme) is that you really do have to just keep putting out applications. You'll be suited for one job or another, and if the manager isn't a complete zombie or asshole, he'll get back to you right away.
It's for the best, honestly. My current boss got back to me right away after I put in a ton of applications, and he's an extremely nice guy. You want to find the managers that get back to you immediately. They're the ones you want to work for.
