I started playing world of warcraft at 10 years old and stopped in my mid teens. I went into that game a somewhat normal kid, and came out a broken depressed teenager with no social skills. I could play first person shooters for days and days just stopping to sleep. Actually I could get very engaged into any game. I would fall deep into the story and lore and I would learn about all the characters and stuff. Multiple play through and everything. But now games have lost their appeal and I don't know why. I can't get engaged like I used to...

Even though I'm 29 it's not a problem of having too many responsibilities now or something. It's just games aren't the same...or maybe it's me who has changed. I just wish I could get as much joy out of the stuff I used to.

Easily best time of my life.

I have experienced most of the expected adult life achievements and moments yet nothing comes close to sitting in that dark room all day playing that game.

I played vanilla-WOTLK before I have to quit for real life. I returned for the panda expansion and it was not the same so I quit after about 3 weeks.

Though I played on a vanilla private server a couple years back and my wife threatened divorce if I did not quit playing. Was playing 3-4 hours before work, 3-4 hours after work and all weekend.

>I hope I won't feel something similar towards Skyrim or Borderlands

I'm sure you will anon.

Children, marriage and a good career just brings on more responsibility which is thankless and unrewarding.

You are essentially a cuck for other people the rest of your life.

Taking care of your wife, kids, parents and inlaws.

You are never first priority for the rest of your life.

Although my child is still very young I don't advise having one.

I feel nothing towards my child except contempt. Though I will never be a bad father for my children regardless to how I feel.

>riding skateboard around

conversely all the stuff that was meant to be great usually causes me a lot of stress, everyone argues and it's overall pretty lame.

>Start secretly mass downloading dB, dbz, dbgt, elfen lied and various other manga at school

>Take them home on 1gb usb and read them on my crappy netbook

Sometimes I miss only having low spec phones and netbooks, I have a pc that can run gta v on highest settings fine but now I'm bored of games, all I use it for is torrenting anime, browsing 4chan and watching streams in bed, I find I used to have a lot more uses for my old low spec computers when that's all I had

You kids have it great these days,

Imagine life without smart phones till you were fucking 18 or 19 when the first iphone came out.
Imagine no youtube or social media.
>>
>>>38864239
Sure it's great now I've got them but I had to grow up when there wasn't any aswell, then watch as all my "friends" in school had the latest phones and computers and the first iPhone or iPod touches and all I had was a generic flip phone or slide out keyboard phone or my older brothers blackberry curve with everything stripped off but the keyboard. I barely had internet through highschool cause my family could barely afford the bills, we'd have it for a while and I'd Skype my friends for 2-3 months like normal then suddenly it goes off for a few months and I gotta explain how I'm too poor for something they see as basic

All my friends no longer play anything together and have moved onto different stages of their lives and I'm still trying to find a game which is enjoyable to play with other people.

Burned out of Dota 2 and CSGO and starting to get tired of overwatch community.

Here is to hoping Foxhole turns out OK.

I still remember the time my dad drove me to the shop at 12 am to queue up to buy Wotlk, was so cool to see people who actually played the game IRL, he drove me home and on the way back he took me to a garage to by a bunch of snacks, he stayed up until like 2:30 to help me install it and surprised me by saying that I could have a couple days off school so I could play it, my mum and dad would come and sit and watch me play while I explained the game to them

You know, one of the best memories of my life was when Wotlk officially released and you could start leveling, I would give up a leg to see a video of the first few hours of the true release, everyone all together leveling up in borean tundra and asking for help on quests and looking for groups for local dungeon and chatting to guildies how cool it was

I also remember playing during summer break and I would spend basically every waking hour fishing with my friend at winter grasp talking on vent and listening to music before raid times
>>
>>38860691
all my best memories in life were spent playing wow, particularly with this old friend of mine. it sounds pathetic af but we were really close and had a lot of inside jokes. he was the only person who would hang around me because he genuinely enjoyed my company and not because he wanted to use me or take advantage of me. every time one of us would log on we'd message the other instantly and get to doing some arenas or just fuck around of l4d2. the problem is i fell into a really severe depressive state and hurt him too many times and we ended up losing constant. i still think about him to this day and wonder how he is. he was honestly the only person i could have ever considered a friend

tf2 memories, the blogpost:
I remember my first ever time playing. I was thrown into a Badwater game, I was on attack. They had pushed almost all the way so I was kinda clueless as to what I was supposed to do. So I followed my teammates and walked right into a sentry nest.
Other memorable moments include:
>using the sandman-guillotine combo on gibus snipers

>unboxing my first unusual whilst standing atop the tower in Hightower
Hearing my friend rage through skype wishing he could get lucky for once, I didn't even realize how rare unusuals were.

>winning my first tour of mvm with my friends, earning my first botkiller and feeling like a champion
It was nothing special, a rust botkiller scatter, but it has been with me through it all

>discovering the power of demoknight
I still have my strange swords and my splendid screen, sometimes I look at them in my inventory and get kinda sad that the game will never be the same

I miss classic rust too.
I like new Rust, but it's no-where near the feelings old Rust gave me.

The devs forced a clunky aesthetic onto the game, and it stopped being the depressing, bizarre and macabre experience it originally was.

I miss memorizing the game map and knowing how to travel large distances by reading the game chat.

anyone else used to play graal online? i think i was like 7 years old when i got into it. first MMO i ever played. first MMO i ever scammed people in, had cybersex in, "hacked" with artmoney before they got smart and made you have to spoof packets, which was somewhat bothersome. that game fucking ruined me.

btw;

as you see, completing normal mode of borderlands 2 is very feasible in one sitting. If OP meant TVHM or higher, props to you OP.

>playing gta 5 story mode and online with friends before rockstar games became the cash-whoring company they are now
>playing borderlands the pre-sequel (story was good though)
>playing destiny with best friend (mediocre game at best though)

I have a lot of fond memories playing Rising Storm 1 with coordinated teams that have had great commanders and teamwork.

Here's a couple of vids to give an example:

It really is among the most fun I have had in fromt of my computer.

Oh man, hopping on WoW during winter break at 9am while the snow comes down outside the window next to you. Wrapped in a blanket with a cup of coffee. Not a care in the world, just pure pleasant feels.

Yeah MW2 was fun. I had a group of about 40 kids from school who I played with. It was sad watching Xbox Live die. Now most of them either don't play video games or play shit like OW and PUBG on PC.
