How do you people deal with the oppressive amount of depth there is to every hobby? How long it takes to get good or even just acceptable at any one thing? Even practical skills like reading? *Everything* requires practice, insane amounts of it, throwing your head at a brick wall over and over and over again and every day the crack in it grows an infinitesimal amount. And then what? For what? Is progress and practice unsatisfying to anyone else?

This hit me the other day. It's not just hobbies, the details that go into being good at one single occupation probably amount to more than the skills of the entire workforce 2000 years ago. It's too much
>>
Yes it's really oppressive.
It often even feels like work to sit down and watch a movie and play a game.
The progress and practice phase are often difficult.
But depending on the subject, finishing it and looking back can be really satisfying.

God I've thought about that a lot. It's all so overwhelming, and I'm so fickle and unsatisfied I can't ever stick to one thing and work, I'm always doing something for a week and then stopping to do something else, repeat.

It can be, but it's always so short-lived for me. I don't get satisfaction in most things. I feel so paper thin.
>>
Why do you look at it like a chore? A hobby is supposed to be something that you like. When you like something, it's not difficult to invest time in it.
Seems to me that you're forcing yourself to like something. That doesn't work.

That makes me feel sadder. I am not a master of anything, despite having a degree.
I think that I wouldn't want to die if I were a master of something and if I could apply that. Unfortunately I fried my brain from being a NEET and there's no way for me to live any more.

Well i don't know. It's like I don't find that much enjoyment in *any* of the things I've tried. There's a reason I keep going back to them, they *are* fun in theory at least, and for a very short time in practice, but then I just get bored again.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
