Right now there is NO legal method of viewing child porn, resulting in a black market for such content. By your logic the prohibition of child porn supports the child porn market as well.

As we know from the war on drugs, prohibition doesn't work. It's better for things to be controlled legally rather than outright banning them because you can't just legislate away things people don't like. There IS a market for child porn right now, even though its illegal. There always will be.

If consumption of child porn was allowed in controlled environments, then: - pedos would be able to more effectively function in public without being ostracized, and could safely practice their sexual preferences without committing a crime
- the government could prevent crimes with actual victims from occurring, like molest or rape

There are no upsides.

Nobody is arguing that raping children should ever be legal. That being said, media DOES exist of such content ALREADY.

Raping and murdering children will ALWAYS be illegal. No shit. But just like watching a child be killed by an escalator is legal, watching a child be raped should be legal. You have to realize that child molesters are not viewed positively by the public anon. Police ability to find and arrest those who commit sex crimes against children.

Suddenly those with room temp IQs who have kids locked up in their basement can easily be found by police when they record child porn. Those who rape kids can now much more easily be found and convicted.

Your issue is you are conflating the crime of hurting or raping kids with the media itself. Normal, good people like you or I can watch a person being raped and rightfully be disgusted by it. That doesn't make doing so suddenly be legal.
