WHY IS IT OK FOR COMPANIES TO CALL YOU AT HOME TO SELL YOU SOMETHING YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO BUY?

Why is it such a big deal? You can always ignore them.
>call you at home
What the fuck? Do you still have a landline?
They want to trick the elderly.
It's mostly Pajeet, and when he calls me I chew him out for his garbage country.

No, I can't. The house phone can't be muted. You have to wait for it to stop ringing, then wait for the 'leave a message' prompt to play, then wait for the caller to leave a message. GOD FORBID they hang up before the prompt is over; if that happens, the phone doesn't seem to know what to do so it makes this sound that can only be described as a siren from Hell. This siren sound will continue eternally until either the world ends or you stop what you're doing to pick up the phone and hang it back up.
This whole exchange takes about 90 seconds, and we get about 15 calls a day give or take. 9 of those calls are from telemarketers or scammers. It's insanely annoying.

No, I live with my mom and she refuses to buy a cellphone. She hates the house phone too but refuses to get rid of it.
