ITT: games you play to relax or unwind. Even if no one else plays them that you know
>Civ III
the amount of hours i have spent on this game is too many to tell. but i love this game so very much
>>38702916
Why Civ 3? Why not 4?
>>38702916

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeU5Q7ITkVg&list=PLVAa1_ZtH7aHZGBIu8oPMlT82ZIbiwRsP&index=89
Id suggest any of the MS series, but MS III is absolutely phenomenal
>>38702955
Civ III is just a game i am comfy with anon.
I just love it so much, could never get into CIv IV though... i am saving for civ VI though because i have heard its really good
also heres another bit to the original image
Crusader Kings 2. I have over 1000 hours in it.
>>38703061
Same
Also Far Cry primal. I like to roam around in survivor mode and enjoy the atmosphere. It is legit magnificent maxed out
>>38702916
Mgsv
>drop to Afghanistan map as it's getting dark
>ride horse to nearest side mission area
>quietly take over outpost
Civ 3 is comfy as fuck, played a shit ton it. Tried to get back into it, but alas I found it to old. If they remade Civ 3 today that would be great
>>38703025
Don't bother, AI is fucked.
It cheats, blatantly and constantly.
A lifelong ally will suddenly declare war on you with one unit and demand YOU pay for peace.
Lots of other general fuck ups which spoil the game.
IF they fix the AI it would be great but it's been out a while now and they haven't so sadly I don't think they will.
>>38703131
>tfw you will never find a comfy AF slow paced game as good as CIV III again
>>38703159
Literally all paradox games are better
>>38703183
Personal opinion anon
>>38702916
The game I play to unwind changes from month to month. I was super into dwarf fortress about a month ago. Then I kinda got tired of my current fort, but can't start on my new one until the new update.
Right now, I'm playing Splatoon 2. Killing it with the Jet Squelcher.
>>38703159
Civ 3 had something the newer titles don't have, 5 and 6 just bore the fuck out of me. It's a god damn shame
>>38703217
No ure just a faggot brainlet
>>38703255
What are the differences between Civ 3 and Civ 4? I've played about 200 hours of Civ 3 and about 8 of Civ 5, but never Civ 4.
>>38703272
Don't know for some reason I skipped it, although I've been thinking of buying it just to see what it's like
dota 2. arcade mode is great for chillout play
I love playing M&B warband my dude
>>38703261
You called someone a brainlet yet you cant type properly.
15/10 anon well done
>>38703025
>>38702916
Also why are you building a courthouse in sen's fortress? I can't imagine a 2 pop city relatively close to the capital has THAT much corruption
Then again I'm pretty dogshit at civ so what do I know
>>38703272
No pollution, no infinite city spam, no railroad teleportation, and more effective counters against stacks
>>38703378
>You called someone a brainlet yet you cant type properly.
yep brainlet confirmed and possibly a newie aswell
sad as all hell
>>38702916
BASED ANON
I just wrapped up a game at 330am that I intended to quit by 1030pm and go to bed.
What is so autistically addicting about this shit??
>>38703497
chill out mate, geez, its a personal choice about games that people like. take that broom handle from up your ass and chill out
>>38703544
Ill just have an hour on this
>8 hours later
i love this game and every single fucking thing about it. it always makes me feel good to play. its not that grindy, just buy a few kaiba decks right out of the gate and slowly move the structure towards beatdown. easy as, but in a fun way.
especially the post game content, when theres ZERO ban list
I play HATRED
Call of duty infinite warfare or FIFA
Clash royale

i play eve online nowadays
Zelda the wind waker.
Bonus point : even after 15 years, the original still looks pretty good.
Super mario sunshine and firewatch are very comfy too, even if the latter is basically a walking simulator.
>>38705392
>Freighter
>Caldari lowsec
Umm. Lmk next time you haul, I'll come escort you if you're in my wormhole chain
Halo 5 Forge on PC. I usually build comfy cabin or village maps on Avalanche by toggling snow and setting the skybox to night.
>>38706179
By Avalanche, I meant Glacier.
>>38703025
>civ VI though because i have heard its really good
If you like overpriced app store games masquerading as 4x strategy
old-school runescape
currently slaying baskilisks :^)
ETS2 and ATS. Just put on the radio and drive a fuckhuge truck. The multiplayer mod is somewhat decent as long as you avoid busy areas.
Soldat
Been playing out for 10 years now, its fast and fun. I had good laughs playing It online, never bores me.
Majesty: the Fantasy Kingdom Sim
or Morrowind

Bad Company 2 or Battlefield is they hadn't died in 2013
I haven't found a game I can chill to since
>>38706466
If you do it on purpose you are banned. Most people run recording software so they can report your ass. Ive accidentially hit a few people and not gotten banned though. The truck is to say sorry. Here is a link if you want to fuck with it. https://truckersmp.com/
>>38703089
This. I play on second chance and every encounter is legit terrifying. I only play on second chance because random sabertooth bullshit is...well bullshit
>>38703025
civ 5 is much better than 6
The civics system in 6 sucks and it's overcomplicated for no reason
The UI in 6 is extremely sluggish and doesn't register input sometimes
religion is handled a little better in 6 but it becomes a potential win condition that is a pain in the ass to stop
can't spam wonders in 6 because they each take up a hex and have very specific land requirements
Rimworld.
Original
>>38702916
Titan Quest. It's such a fucking no brainer that I can play it all day long and listen to podcasts.
Used to play Terraria but I dropped it after 500 hours after I realised that I don't have creativity.
>>38702916
Harmful Park
Dark Cloud
Wipeout
RunEscape. I like it because it has a near infinite amount of gameplay and I don't have to pay anything for membership. currently working on 120 slayer. im at 93/104m xp
>>38706541
BF4 is pretty chill now that all the shitters are on BF1
>>38707111
Checked
Australia so anything other than the latest title is completely dead, there's 2 populated BF4 servers here at absolute best
I regret not playing BF4 on and since release but the shit-show of BF3 dissuaded me
BF1 is Calodoody
>>38707094
>I play a chinese mobile tier game called Easyscape. I like it because I don't have to work for anything, I just buy treasure hunter keys, and the amount of gameplay I put in means I literally just watch the game play it's self. Currently i'm working towards an achievement almost everyone has already done because the game is so inflated over the years.
>>38707197
i started playing in 2004 and had 99 attack, strength, defence, hp, slayer, construction, fletching, woodcutting, fishing, thieving herblore, smithing, ranged, magic, agility, runecrafting, firemaking and prayer before the squeal of fortune came out. meaning, i did it at 10% of the current experience rates and had to actual play the game to earn my xp.
X3 Albion Prelude
It soothes my space autism
>>38703183
Paradox games have shit pacing except for the Vicky and CK series and the pre-4 HoI games. Every other paradox game is
>wait for something to happen for 15 minutes
>frantic mess of combat
>wait some more
>research something
>wait 20 more minutes
>frantic mess of combat
Toontown. Played the shit out of it as a kid. That and Blockland (which died a few years ago, unfortunately) It's apex comfy. After that, probably Rimworld.
>>38704712
>not having BNW

I wish I had someone to play through TQ with. Also I got bored with Terraria after being stuck at the cultist
>>38702916
currently Oblivion. or secretly Stardew Valley
>>38707450
>Play Stardew Valley
>Expect comfy Harvest Moon-esque game
>Hit Shane's plotline
WELP. THAT HIT HOME.
>>38702916
This gem
>that hopeless background music
>that amazing radio music
>that depressing yet comfy landscape full of ruins of that was once a settlement
>Don't Starve
I'm pretty much set in this game. It's comfy having a nice schedule of just Harvesting Spider nests and harvesting Honey all day. All my characters really eat are Monster Jerky and Honey, and I use Honey Poultice and a Top Hat for the health and sanity problem. I even have a favorite pig friend who I gave a silk hat.
>Sims 3
I've had a legacy challenge going on for a while now. Out of the maybe 13 sims I've played with, I'd say about 10 are really interesting and I tried to make each one unique. Sadly I've been having problems with it since I reset my sims game and I've been playing with this Dadly Dad and his loser son.
>Oblivion
Like this anon >>38707450. I find walking around doing quests to be extremly comfy. It's nice to have the Adoring Fan around aswell, someone to care about and not make the adventure feel so lonely.
>>38702916
Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, anyone remembers that one?
>>38703225
Same, I play dwarf fortress too
I'm fact there's a game like dwarf fortress that I'm playing right now, it's very interesting. It's called "rimworld", basically dwarf fortress with graphics but a lot less complex
Old isometric citybuilders
Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom is the comfiest
That one was an easy choice for me
>>38707522
3 and NV are comfy; with the right mods you can stroll the wastelands, have good encounters and enjoy the weather, scenery and sounds; shame they missed that in 4
Exploring DC is still fun
After playing CIV4 first I could never get into 3, even though there are some things I know 3 did better than 4 (like dealing with doom stacks better)
The main selling point of 5 was that it got rid of stacks completely and made warfare much more interesting and maybe even immersive. But they also removed a lot of the depth and features that 4 had, most notably being diplomacy and city management. 5 just felt too simplified and easy to play and win, and games even on epic could last for maybe only a day or two. Civ4 games would have you spending a week tops doing daily several hour sessions before finishing an epic-speed game. I'm not saying 5 is a bad game because it really isn't, I've spent thousands of hours playing it, it's just that while 5 did some things better, 4 did more.
Not to mention that Civ4 modded (with shit like caveman2cosmos or rise of mankind) is without a fucking doubt the most amazing and immersive and in-depth 4x experience you will ever fucking have. Nothing beats it.
Stay the fuck away from Civ6 unless you want shitty ai, shitty graphics, and SJW garbage. The game is fucking bare-bones and honesty pathetic.
>>38702955
Any civ game after the first one is normie trash that is only played by people who want to seem popular.
Even the first one was degenerate and so is anything that gets a sequel
Op is a cuck for the mainstream game companies
>>38707763
civ 5 is a fucking gem
Civ III was my first civ but I was just a kid so I didn't know what I was doing, 4 was the first one where I understood what was going on.
Should I go back and play III now as an adult?
>>38707832
I'd rec it. I never played 3 much but a lot of people seem to think it's great. It's worth a quick torrent and playthrough imo.
>>38707763
All the civ games, at least up till 5, have improved drastically on the previous one in some way or another.
>ds3
I play it in a very specific way too, not just normally. I have a level 27 faith build character that's permanently in the Undead Settlement. When I want to relax, I throw down a summon sign and act as a tour guide for new players in the area. I show them all the little secrets, I heal them, I lead them all over. It's fun to help them so much, and they usually thank me for being so nice.
On top of that, my character is a Mercy cosplay build and the armor set she has on is late game armor (Painting guardian set, the defense is shit but it looks good for her) so I have a ton of late game gear and boss weapons that I don't want, but I had to get while running to my late game armor set. If someone is extra nice and tries to protect me during fights (low vigor, only about 15 or so), I'll leave them some nice present like a boss weapon or a cool armor set. It's fun, I don't even care if it's twinking or something, I enjoy helping them.
>>38707763
>letting the popularity of a game affect your opinion of its gameplay
holy shit you autist fuck.
>>38706487
What's your method for fast lvl? I've been noob for all my life
King of Dragon Pass is really good, with nice artwork.
>>38702916
Civ III is top comfy for a grand strategy game, wonderfully technical yet enchanting and insane replay value.
Currently on a total war Shogun 2 kick but mostly just because i got bored with the combat in civ
and >>38703458 there is no reason to build a courthouse there since the city can't even grow enough to ever be productive. to save upkeep, only build improvements in cities that serve a purpose like your core productive cities around your capital that can mass produce troops with relatively little corruption, all other cities should just get libraries (regardless of how corrupt they are, they can always generate culture for you and expand your borders) and then switch over to wealth.
What are all your opinions on Cities: Skylines?
>>38702955
Civ 3 had a much comfier aesthetic, although Civ 4 had much better gameplay imo. The corruption shield loss and pikemen beating tanks thing just became too much for me for civ 3.
>>38707583
Emperor was fucking amazing. I think it was from the Sierra city building series, which also had Pharaoh and Caesar, but Emperor was the best. I remember whole warehouses full of carved jade and lacquerware, building docks so that foreign trade partners could pick it up, and having like 4-5 forts (getting all the weapons etc. for it) and sending the companies off to expeditions just to get smashed by the Liao. Those games were crazy educational as a 10 year old, almost as complex as paradox games.
>>38707998
Emperor was also good because they did away with labor walkers, thus no need to pop down a lone house in an industrial district so they would have workers.
>>38707998
to be honest the same shit with pikeman beating tanks still happened in 4.
A big problem with playing on lower difficulties was that you'd tech up so quickly that the game would become a cakewalk. But the higher the difficulty you went, the ai didn't get smarter they just got gibs and the player got handicapped, thus ruining the immersion.
>>38707998
>>38708066
You can patch the whole pikemen beating tanks things yourself, just make the stats of modern units far above that of medieval units. It can still happen occasion, but if a tank has 50+ attack against a pikeman/musketman then it's going to win regardless of any terrain modifiers.
>>38707998
I'm pretty sure that was the whole reason for the combat overhaul in Civ 5.
oldschool runescape is the comfiest/robot-tier game out there
>>38708066
>the higher the difficulty you went, the ai didn't get smarter they just got gibs and the player got handicapped, thus ruining the immersion.
That's how increasing the difficulty works in every single Civ game, they all have shit tier AI
>>38708269
oops*
origano
>>38707094
Aha I was looking for you sir. Slayer is my favourite skill as well, but I'm only at level 110 right now. Insane account you have there man!
>>38708345
hi there. good luck with your slayer, robot.
>>38708269
It's comfy, but i don't think it can be the best because to engage in high-tier pvm content you really need to have people you can boss with in either a clan or a friend circle.
>>38702916
I find Sim City 2000 very relaxing and nostalgic of-course
I play it when I'm stressed from a bad week at work
>>38708416
im 98 slayer and haven't boss tasks like armadyl because i don't have friends. So you might be right
>>38708443
actually you can solo an arma boss task with chins, since you can attack the minion and the damage will splash to the boss. Assuming you don't get boned with drops, you can reliably make profit.
>>38708420
too bad the newer ones arent as good
>>38703261
Any strategy game against AI is just exploiting the computer's mismanaged priorities with the same techniques over and over to compensate for how much it cheats. Literally anyone can beat the hardest difficulty AI in any empire game just by googling a handful of techniques.
I really don't understand the appeal in these things.
>>38707094
I played Runescape every day for about 5 years. I was shit at the game and basically got to level 107 combat, with pretty decent well-rounded stats.
Before I quit I went on a hacking rampage, got a remote admin tool from hack forums & a java driveby set up. Went through the game recruiting people into my "clan". Made them join my "screenshare" (the drive by) and then once they dled the RAT I would turn on their webcam and watch their face while I unloaded their bank. Did this to probably 50+ people, and finally achieved my long term goal: to quit the game with a partyhat.
Holy shit, someone else on this shitty earth that still plays civIII. That is my favorite game of all time. I have 2k hours on it
>>38702916
dude, this is the first game I really got into, started my interests in military/history/politics. I was born in '98, and my older cousin showed me this game as a young kid. I remember playing this for thousands of hours since the third grade. Thanks for the nostalgia, anon- this is one of my favorite games of all time.
>>38707991
How the fuck is the traffic not backed up? I can't ever get a city with smooth running streets because I'll be backed up to the highway and often a good portion of it is just cars waiting.
I think I just focus on industry too much but I always leave it apart from the rest too, a lot of the time it's the shops getting their shipments and I think ambulances blocking up streets.
>>38707018
I can't bring myself to play this anymore, I just got tired of constantly trying then having my people grow old and useless or a fuck-tastically huge raid coming in.
>>38707947
Personally I only play Shogun 2 and Warhammer to watch the units fight each other. I'll send in droves of Ashigaru or some low tier in Warhammer just to watch the carnage.
>>38707991
Good game but fuck buying all the DLC
It's been over a year since I played League now but I still open up the client, update my runes and masteries, read up on the meta a little, then get too intimidated to enter a game and exit.
Civ 2 was the best and everyone who thinks otherwise knows nothing about the civ series.
>>38709818
I play a lot of ARAM (less stress but idiots like to fling themselves), I miss Dominion though.
If it's still there try the Dark Star Singularity, just lower your enemies health then use E to fling them into the middle. First time I tried it I got 47 then 53 points because no one was focusing on lowering HP.
>>38703025
Civ V with all expansions is literally GOAT
