I was actually born in a different age. I was born in the 80s and grew up in the 90s before the internet was ever a thing, let alone a household appliance that's' even more common than a washer & dryer.


Back then it was much much much harder to waste your time, these days I can waste 16 hours a day just sitting in front of my computer doing nothing but shitposting and watching trash on youtube.

The flipside to that is that back then it was almost impossible to learn anything casually part-time or as a hobby. You had to go to the god damn library and shuffle through index cards to see if they had a book that was even remotely related to what you wanted to learn and then walk around & hope that the book was placed in its right place or that it wasn't already rented and then look through it and be disappointed that it doesn't have the information you were looking for. These days I can look up everything and anything on youtube or on websites or the app store or anything.


I'd say that the internet definitely has a bell curve for its usefulness. It's great at first and helps you in all sorts of ways, but then over time it stops being useful and actually becomes a hindrance.

People sold drugs and chemicals that were extremely hazardous to your health, food that you wouldn't even feed your dog, safety practices that would see you get your fingers mangled in a cog and you'd get no worker's comp, just thrown out onto the street to die.
