If nothing else, "crazy" isn't a diagnosis. That was Klinger's problem: if he'd bothered to study psychology (well enough to learn diagnostic criteria), he could've gotten out easy. Well, and he also poisoned the well.
Or for the immediate point, he didn't consider that homosexuality was a diagnosis at the time, and the most obvious one.
