it's all about being enthralled in technology right now. people are clinging desperately to their highschool friends with social media, since that allows you to do that now, so their school friends become their lifelong friends.

then they just dive deep into technology and ride that momentum. as long as they never burn bridges, they always have friends, because social media is a long term friendship maintenance platform.
