I never have that issue as I completely disregard their shit conversations and bullshit and go straight to hanging out and playing with the kids, as they also always ask me right away, and rather than ignore I always comply.

They won't literally tell you to piss off, but they certainly won't trust you and will definitely watch you closely.
You see, the difference is all the questions I asked above are answered positively for me. I can literally go outside, decide to have a mud party with the kids, go change them into bathing suits, get real nasty, go inside and take a shower (even together, although I always keep on shorts just because), get out and put them in underwear then continue playing, potentially having a ticklefight on the bed, and I won't so much so as get a single check-in.
They check-in on basically everybody else however.
This applies to non-family as well, at least after the first time of us meeting.
