I guess the closest thing to the OP would when I try to imagine myself with a girl but the concept is so abstract that I can't consistently manage anything more than staring at each other, or sitting together. I have no source material, but it can make me feel a shallow kind of happy, it's just fleeting and requires concentration.

It depends a lot on people's perspective. "normies" (or people that can't think for themselves in general) would see you as some sort of creep, but those with experience on the topic might think of you as a cute or feel sad over your situation.
I remember some guy collecting cute dolls and that's all he had on his life, he'd see them as his daughters and that's what kept him for committing sudoku.

I have a Jack Skellington plushie with a really big head, a Pikachu, and a little Beanie Baby ghost named Sheets. I kiss them on the head if they're out of place, I put them back on my bed if they fall, and I actually snuggle them when I sleep.

I have friends and none of them have judged me for this.

I had a teddy bear when I was a kid, too. Her name was Hazel, as in Witch Hazel, because she had a witch's hat and little striped stockings. My mom got her for me and she had a lot of sentimental value. I wish i knew where she was now.

Only reason I didn't show Charles is because he's at my mother's place atm and I'm at my dad's who lives in a different country. Puki is at my house and my housemate sent me that. Charles has a red shirt with a white tartan pattern and brown overalls. He is a beige-y brown with short fur. He's small enough to hold in one hand. I feel bad for him if I don't sleep with him because I feel like he's lonely and I always try to position him in a way where he won't overheat in my bed and try to not hug him too much so he'll have personal space.

Yes, I do. I have many, many stuffed animals, though. I have kept so many of them since I was a child. I have a bit of a strong attachment to them, and always have. My mother was abusive and they were there for me when I was sad and hurting, until dad could come home and hug me.
Just recently though, I have gotten a new friend in my animal family, and it is a big sea horse. And she is very very special to me because when I went on a big trip to see my boyfriend for the first time recently, he got her for me. So whenever I wish I was hugging him, I hug her tight, since we are in LDR and I can't hug him right now. He also got a big shark when I was there with him, and he says it reminds him of when we meet too. It makes me so happy.
Stuffed animals are the best, and sometimes they hold such amazing sentimental value.

I go a step beyond. I live out a world of fantasy in lucid dreams/daydreams/writing with my waifu to get the companionship I crave without dealing with people who will just cheat on me because cheating sex feels better.
Honestly when I got the lucid dreaming down all of the feels vanished, it feels so real it's actually fulfilling. I'm probably more emotionally satisfied than the average normie with a roastie gf they can't stand to talk to for extended periods.

Oh god this is such a beautiful yet depressing section. While I don't have the personification aspect to my plushies, I am attached to them. I'm 20M btw. I have a small stuffed llama with a pink neckerchief named Paul, a palm sized teddy bear with a bucket hat, two matching black teddy bears (One big one small), a Totoro plushie I got this year from Disney, and my favorite: a light tan Beanie Buddies bear named Bengy that belong to my Great Grandmother when she died. I love them all and keep them displayed on my shelves in their own spots, even hugging each other.
