Life is so much better when you stop genuinely caring what others think about you for things you can't change, like your height or eye color. OR even for things you can change but struggle with, i.e. social anxiety, which I struggled for a damn long time with. My fear was being judged by others. And then, over the course of 3 months, I just stopped caring. I repeated to myself over and over that these random peoples' opinions on how strange I may or may not come across just doesn't matter. And suddenly being around people became that much easier. I couldn't go to the store alone without feeling like I was going to puke or have a panic attack. Now I can and even enjoy doing so because guess what? They don't know me. They don't know my life. Most of the people probably won't even think anything in particular about me. And if they do and it's bad, then fuck them. They don't know me. They don't know my life. They don't. Know. Shit. And I don't care what a bunch of judgmental cunts think anyway. I used to, but now I don't. Yeah, approval from the group is nice and all, but first and foremost approval should come from within. You should be kinder to yourself. Stricter, too, but not abusive.

These may sound like platitudes but it's fucking true, man. Self acceptance and self confidence can be very hard to teach to yourself but it is damn well worth it. For me, it that was the difference between having a panic attack and feeling like I wanted to kill myself over merely thinking of going to the store, and being able to go to the store for my mom and have a good time. I also never judge people in public unless they're being blatantly retarded, cancerous, or otherwise stupid. Like feminists, for example. But if there's some guy who's 5'3' and having his mom guide him through breathing exercises in the Mexican isle? So what? All I hope is that he can calm down and get better. No judgment here.
