Give it to whom? The government takes it, it doesn't go to us.

>I want socialism
>uh no, I'd keep my money it's just rich people who would give me theirs

lmao you want socialism so much start a commie commune. You don't need the government to have a communist society, you can do it yourself.
>>
>>38531242
>socialism = taxes and stuff
ask me how I know you're American
>>
>>38531199

That's all government. That's what I'm saying, it doesn't go to us it goes to the government to do with they please.

Get it yet? Getting "even" by taxing the rich is an illusion.
>>
>>38531141
i built my money from literally nothing. do it yourself or start contributing more to make up for it.
>>
>>38531141
Rich people pay the most taxes. The 20 dollars you spend in taxes a week isn't going to be what pays for everyone's healthcare.

>>
>>38531305
This. The rich (top 10%) pay the majority of taxes.
>>
>>38531303
The argument here is that education, roads, social programs and libraries benefit all, not just the rich. Yes it's run by the government, but most people are not staunch libertarians who believe the government can do no good.
>>
>>38531141
I bet you voted/would have voted Corbyn

Life isn't like Robin Hood you stupid cunt
>>
>>38531755

Under the assumption that increased taxes from any source does in fact go to these programs for the public and not something else like.... creating bio weapons.

There's no pressure from the public at all on how to get government to spend tax money.
>>
I'm so smert
>>
>>38531707
True, but the highest tax rates tend to be upon the skilled upper middle class, the engineers/doctors of the world, rather than the truly rich upper class who through investments and lawyering can get away with paying lower rates than wage earners.
>>38531815
We do live in a republic, in spite of what we might think of the sorry nature of Washington right now. The people have the ability to guide policy to some extent through elections and voting in of the representatives closest to their ideals, especially at a local and state level. Even at the national level, the public was able to vote in a party that will act in their supposed interests through tax/education/health care lol reform
>>
>>38531941

>through election and voting

Nope. Absolutely not. Those are carefully controlled, especially now that congress does not have term limits since.... 1996? When the Supreme Court abolished term limits for congress.

Nope. Absolutely not. Elections and voting the biggest sham to give the public an illusion of participation on how tax money is used.
>>
>>38531941
Depends where you are. Doesn't the US have an alternative tax precisely to stop people from (ab)using loopholes and the like?
I'm from Austria, we have a comparatively low tax on real wages (and half of earners don't pay any at all in fact) but a hefty corporate tax and 27.5% capital gains tax on top of it.
>>
>>38531983
A Clinton administration would be significantly different to the current administration in allocation of money to health care and various federal departments such as the environment. While I do agree that the government is bloated overly by bureaucracy and set in it's ways, I feel that you are underestimating the effect of civic participation.
>>38532009
I admit to only having surface level knowledge on tax codes beyond hearsay and can't back up my anecdote with facts, sorry.
>>
>>38532197

Nope. Civic participation affects the election but not policy. Once they're elected it's completely out of the voters control.

The biggest liars are the ones that promise change, but after they get elected they find themselves unable to do much of anything regarding policy.

Congress runs everything. Congress has no term limits, no checks and balances anymore.
>>
And I hate how it's the blue party that masquerade as the party of the people.

It's a farce, they're pedophiles at comet ping pong pizza embezzling the tax pool for every penny they can get away with.
>>
>>38532247
It seems to me that you are arguing a contradiction. Term limits would cause an elected representative who is about to reach his limit to act more self interested, since voters would not be able to act upon him, since he would be a lame duck who is leaving office anyway. While I'm not strongly against term limits, throwing them around as a the biggest flaw in America does seem disingenuous without taking stock in their negative effects.
I also think you are misfocussed. Congress should be a force for the people that can get elected. While you believe people have very little influence upon Congress, at least we do have some ability to vote in people who we know roughly how they will act. Shouldn't you be more resentful of the executive departments, the bureaucracy, the great unelected that really do have a big hand in day our day to day life?
>>
>>38532413

Nope, it's absolutely congress. Without term limits, they can form super parties within the house and senate.

Your argument is flawed, voting for someone because you think you know what they'll do.

Term limits is what kept the congress neutral in acting in the interests of the voters. Without them, congress forms in-house coalitions and have unfettered access to personal agendas since elections now can be carefully controlled and many can keep their senate or house senate indefinitely.

Of course a congressmen would tell me I am miss focused for targeting the right target.

You were where I was a few years ago. Big Corporations and Big Government are in bed. "Raise taxes on the rich" means raise taxes on the rich and middle class while the filthy rich slip by and benefit from having more power as those below them get more powerless. The filthy rich have the accountants, lobbyists, lawyers, politicians, judges, and journalists on their side. These professions are needed to navigate our big government, bend the rules, and inform/misinform the people. High taxes and more regulations therefore benefit the filthy rich though the filthy rich sometimes complain for extra benefits and the lesser rich complain because they're getting screwed.

Even if you somehow taxed the wealthiest people 100% you couldn't cover all of our current spending nor any of the huge spending the economic left want. Thus "Tax the 1%" quickly becomes the middle class getting screwed with taxes and inflation until they're broke.

The US has higher salaries than Brits for the same job (Currency accounted for) and a lower cost of living. We are wealthier. Socialism = poverty.

If you want communism good luck. It ends up with the elites having an upper middle class lifestyle while the rest starve. It leads to mass state violence and civil rights abuses. That's all it has ended in. It doesn't work. Commies have to say "NOT REAL COMMUNISM!" because they can't find one example of a communist government that was successful.

>when rich people are asked to give away just a little bit of their money

The government doesn't "ask".
>>
Also congress is directly in charge of the entire federal budget.
>>
>>38531141
>depriving us of healthcare
I shouldn't have to pay for your healthcare and diabetes meds lard ass, get a job you fat piece of shit.
>>
>>38532597

Nice try trying to divert attention.

Without term limits, we are living in the old Roman republic ruled by its senate. They elect their Caesar and military leaders, and each senator is immensely wealthy and powerful.
>>
Wanna know how I know you're a shill4free from a literal communist part of the web?

>>38531282
Yes that's what actually happens.
>>
>>38532561
>Your argument is flawed, voting for someone because you think you know what they'll do.
As a rule, when a congressman is elected, you do in fact where they stand. Congresscritters are not unpredictable. It's pretty clear that the top Republican position if they won in Congress was to kill Obamacare and tax reform, and this has been their position for a long time now. I haven't seen them doing things very out of line with what I'd expect from Congress. I stand by the fact that people do in fact vote for what they basically should expect.
Take GHW Bush. He said he wouldn't raise taxes, and he did. This was a tremendous factor in getting him defeated by Bill Clinton in 92
I'm not concern trolling you and I don't like the current state of Washington and I don't like Congress much either but I do have more faith in them than I do in many a faceless bureaucrat.

Jewish bullshit
None of this is going to matter when a substantial portion of the labor goes to automation comes around and the automated means of production are totally socialized. That's right, capitalism is eating itself and will evolve into socialism and maybe even full communism.
>>
The rich pay a majority of taxes as well as pay employees, shareholders, expansion, and deal with economic forces. The poor are worthless and don't need money as bad. They live paycheck to paycheck consistently no matter how many increases in pay they get. Why should they get a break? So they can be even more wasteful. They should try being responsible with what they have, then we can talk about allowing them more privileges.
>>
>>38533053
Maybe people should just change careers should such a time come. Typewriters and looms are horrible, but people still found jobs. We're a long ways from having automated everything. I'm happy with being middle class and retiring 30years early. We live in the time with more economic freedom than ever before. The playing field is truly level. Git gud or get in the welfare line.

>Pizzagate

Trump never colluded with Russia despite all the meetings before during and after the election between him, his family, his staff and high profile russian lawyers as well as oligarchs and their representatives. But the DNC is totally part of a nationwide paedophile ring based out of pizza shops because of a single line from a single e-mail that doesn't even mention children in any way.

This is you right now, this is how stupid Pizzagaters sound to the rest of the world.

According to the FBI pizza is a codeword for children. Also there are several weird emails:

https://wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/32795
Read the paragraph where they mention "pool": https://wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/5252

Also there's no Russian collusion evidence. The "evidence" is normal stuff like Jeff Sessions meeting with the Russian ambassador in the same way Armed Service Committee members should - Pelosi met with the Russian more often than Sessions. It's half truth bullshit.
>>

Are you getting your info from special agent Hansen, by chance?
>>
Man this thread was good and then you fucks started shitting it up
>>
>>38531141
You poorfags took away your own dignity.

Look at historical slice-of-life photography and look at the people in the background. Even from the Depression era. And compare those people to the people you see in Wal-Mart now.

The rich didn't do that to you. Middle class people in earlier generations had much less in the way of material resources than poor people today. They somehow managed to not be obese slack-jawed sweatpants-and-beer-tee-shirt wearing degenerate trash.

Clean your fucking houses, get the trash out of your front yard, take a fucking bath, lose some weight, and wear clothes that don't have the word "blowjob" written on them somewhere - and then get back to me about your "dignity".
>>
>>38533798

>According to the FBI pizza is a codeword for children

CP is short for "child porn". A long ass time ago it became a meme on /b/ to pretend CP actually stood for cheese pizza, not child porn.

The only reason why the FBI has the word pizza on a list of pedo code words is because they didn't understand stupid memes from old /b/.

>Maybe people should just change careers should such a time come
Literally "pull yourself up by your bootstraps"
>We live in the time with more economic freedom than ever before
Is that why so many people are struggling to find jobs? Is that why so many businesses fail within the first year? Is that why wages keep going down while the cost of living keeps rising?
You're delusional. You also didn't (and can't anyway) argue against automation being the thing that destroy capitalism.
>>
>>38533980
Not true. It's just "pizza" and it's like how people use "coke" and "weed" for cocaine and marijuana.
>>
>>38534660
>Literally "pull yourself up by your bootstraps"
Literally a sensible idea. Keep your skills up to date.
>Is that why so many people are struggling to find jobs? Is that why so many businesses fail within the first year? Is that why wages keep going down while the cost of living keeps rising?
You're delusional. You also didn't (and can't anyway) argue against automation being the thing that destroy capitalism.
Small businesses are the biggest creator of jobs and they're crushed with taxes and regulations to the benefit of big corporations who benefit from less competition and big government which they bought.
