Anyone here call the Samaritans to talk about what's on your mind? Does it help with your depression?
They're not there to talk about what's on your mind. They're there to determine whether you're really suicidal or not, and if you are, they send people to arrest you and have you involuntarily committed to a psych ward.
If they don't believe you are going to kill yourself, they will do whatever they can to get you off the phone as soon as possible. They are not allowed to give you advice (other than "don't kill yourself").
