Why is dark humour so much more enjoyable than many other forms of humour?

I've always preferred dark, macabre humour -- and I've never been sure as to why. I usually chalk it up to my family being German; but we're born-and-raised in America, so imagine saying that to someone from Europe.

Well, dark humor is actually quite suppressed here nowadays due to "dats raysis" and such. But if youre around familymembers or friends its actually "normal" once in a while. Or you have luck like me, where we only have macabre topics like here on the chinz
