I'm half Japanese and it barely means anything to me. I'm "white passing" and I live in Canada. I don't even know Japanese, I've never been to Japan, and I've never met my Japanese family. I just have a funny name and sometimes I have difficulty speaking to my mother because her English still isn't fluent.

Being hafu isn't necessarily some kind of magical cultural experience. I'm glad to live in Canada though because Japanese school and work culture seems kind of shit

I've had a couple people ask if I was native Canadian and someone say I reminded them of their slavic relatives, so I guess I look vaguely ethnic to some people. I should also say that I've never had anyone make fun of me for my race afaik

Like I said before, being half Japanese doesn't affect me all that much. She's nice and not strict at all, but that's just her personality. We never really did any "cultural" things together like Japanese new years but she can cook nice Japanese food sometimes

I'm half Japanese half American (Mother was white). I grew up in Japan but was however raised by going to international schools, meaning I gradually forgot how to speak Japanese fluently.

It's common for hafus to feel a sense of confusion over national identity and struggle over it. I never did so however, despite always being never quite fully of one ethnicity. I love Japan, am grateful to be raised in such a safe, civilized society, and in a way I can have an outside perspective on both America and Japan.
