>you were born too late to experience the peak of Internet and imageboard/textboard culture
>you were born too late to experience and discuss 90s and early-2000s anime and manga as it was coming out
>even after several years of browsing various imageboards you still don't feel like you actually fit in anywhere
>>
There's not much culture left on the internet. Just the bland melting pot of social media.

But I was a teenager whenever anime reaction pictures became popular.

People 'mature' less than you seem to think, anon. A lot of high school and college-aged cuteposters will still be doing the cuteposting thing when they're fully grown, because for the most part who you are at 18 is the person you are at 30 or 50 or 80.

I was there for 2011 /v/ so I did, since 2007, and thats where it peaked, it was only downhill from there especially with the increased traffic to the board and the increased mod presence that brought and it became no fun allowed after 2012.

I pity anyone who missed out on 2011 /v/, the most fun I ever had on an imageboard then or since.

What is true in America is not automagically true globally.
>>
>>38455224
>America America blah blah
still the greatest country on earth.
>>
>>38455366
You may think it is, but that doesn't change what I said.

>>38455412
doesn't change what i said either.
>>
Early 2000s discussing anime on stupid forums and imageboards was probably the best time of my life to be honest.
>>
>>38455431
I was not talking about what you said. It is not relevant.
>>
>>38455446
that doesn't change what i said.
>>
>>38455477
You said animation is predominantly for kids everywhere. I said that just because it works that way in America doesn't mean it works that way everywhere. That was the relevant part. Then you started talking about how America is the greatest country. That's irrelevant.

Do you miss the early-mid 2000s era of things, /r9k/?

People seem to think things when to shit after 9/11 but I think things from Late 2001-2006 were still fantastic. It was 2007 with the iPhone, Big bang theory, Recession, social media, etc. where things truly went downhill.
>>
>>38455553
The perception comes from American animation. In any case things are very different in Japan.
>>
>>38455560
The early 2000s were middle school. The mid 2000s were high school. The late 2000s were comfy NEET years where I met the people who are still my best friends.

To me, 2007-2009 were by far the best years of the decade. Not even a question.
>>
>>38455569
no they aren't, lol. anime still targets children, there are a handful with edgy shit for teenagers and that's it. there are definitely a lot more losers in japan, but publicly it would still be embarrassing to bring up trucking cartoons. how much time have you spent there?
>>
>>38455621
Most anime is not made for children, and children's anime has not necessarily been easily distinguishable from non-children's anime due to the very different way in which animation is made in Japan.

>how much time have you spent there?
None at all, but I don't have to be physically present in a country to know things about it. Conversely, being physically present in a country does not somehow give you perfect knowledge of it.
>>
>>38455687
anime is made for children though.
>>
>>38455824
Like I just said, most of it isn't. Again, just because something is true in America doesn't mean it must be true everywhere.
>>
>>38455850
just because you say it isn't, doesn't mean it isn't.
>>
I've been here since 03 and I can tell you the internet in 01-02 and so on was depressing as shit. Everything had gone to shit, only maybe a few mmos were fun. I found this site while looking for Ragnarok online hentai because some faggot was leeching images from here on like ro world and I followed the URL. Shitposting and being an ass online was kinda fun but everything was seriously seriously depressing as a young adult at the time
>>
>>38455862
Most anime today is late night anime, as in it airs around midnight or later, which is hardly prime time for children's entertainment. Children's anime airs during the day.

Just because Americans decided animation must be for children doesn't mean that's how things have to be. And even the anime aimed at children is very different from American children's animation.
>>
>>38455904
I've been online since 1997 and I don't remember there being anything depressing about 01-02.
>>
>>38455925
>most anime is late night anime
lol. you should really visit japan. you have no idea what you're talking about.
>>
>>38454016
I feel the exact same way. I wish I was born 5 years earlier.

>>38454696
>he says on a Mongolian folk music forum
>>
>>38455948
What exactly do you think I would gain by "visiting Japan"? Do you think TV schedules can only be learned by being physically present in Japan? Do you think Japanese people can't see them on the internet?

And even before late night anime started being a thing (late 90s), a lot of TV anime was not for children.

Just because something is true in America doesn't mean it must be true everywhere.
>>
>>38455948
If he did he'd likely find out that children care far more about manga than they do anime
>>
>>38455987
just because you say it isn't, doesn't mean it isn't.
>not for children
lmao. 16 year olds are still children.
>>
>>38456069
Most anime airs late, and the content in most of them is obviously very different from what airs during the day. You have no grounds for your claim. The distinction between children and adults in Japan has also culturally been much more vague than it is in America.

16 year olds are not children, and late night anime does not specifically target 16 year olds either.
>>
Good thing I was born in time to experience all of those things.

Well, not discussing anime/manga since I wasn't into that in the 90s.
>>
>>38454719
I'm 37. Anime reaction pictures were never popular. You're just a faggot. In my experience, mostly only faggots use anime reaction pictures and avatars. So even if you aren't a faggot, you sure seem like one.
