Woke up to one of the dumbest posts I've read on /r9k/, but since it seems like more and more of you are believing this garbage and adopting extremely low-calorie diets, I feel this thread is necessary.
>slow metabolism isn't an illness
I don't get this argument. It's not an "illness" but poor dieting habits can fuck your metabolism up beyond repair to the point where you'll be naturally burning 600+ less calories a day than others in your demographic. Which anyone who has dieted before should know is fucking terrible and is a result of prolonged starvation.
>A diet is for life
this is objectively false. A diet is until you reach a weight and body fat percentage that you are happy with. After that you do not have to eat in such a way that you'll lose weight, rather you now get to (and should) eat up to your maintenance. There's a middle ground between a strict diet and "eating like a pig"
>People aren't meant to eat every day
I don't know what fortune cookie pseudo-science shit this comes from but a lot of you seem to believe it which is disturbing. Humans digest most foods in under 24 hours. Skipping a whole day of eating is not healthy.
>1000-1500 cals can lead a healthy lifestyle
if you're a 5 foot tall woman. Google the permanent metabolism and hormone damage that comes from a consistent 1000 calorie diet.
>2000 cals in carbs leads to obesity
that's why you don't exclusively eat junk food. A healthy diet will consist of 25-30% of your calories coming from proteins, 45-50% from carbs and the remainder from fats, while avoiding trans fats almost entirely.
Please robots, don't force yourself to starve to lose weight just to make yourself more vulnerable to obesity and a generally unhealthy life.
nice and well developed bait, I am sure you'll get your much needed dose of replies
