Sex is not the only thing men care about. But relationships are fundamentally an exchange. The value men provide to women is money, status, and protection. Women have a less qualities that are important to a man, but sex is arguably the most important one. If you don't provide sex on a regular or semi-regular basis then the relationship becomes very one sided and the man gets little out of it. You may think it's primitive, but we are subject to desires that encourage us to procreate.
