Anyone else /depressionbrainlet/? It's much worse becoming a brainlet through depression than it is to be born a brainlet because, at the back of my mind, I can remember a time when my mind was more than just a slow, foggy, empty piece of shit. It's torture.

I dunno how close to the truth I am, but I heard somewhere that physical problems may be the cause. In particular, breathing. I feel constantly tired with very few bright moments, and I have problems breathing, so look into this. I even resolved a few headaches once by breathing deeply.
>>
Yeah but it's because I stopped trying. If something is going to rack my brain I just say forget it and move on. I try to be a zombie as much as I can

I went through a period of complete empty misery when i was about 14 through to 16 and I honestly do feel stupider. But I may have just always been stupid and realised it as I got older.

Is there any way to recover? If I start getting therapy now will I be able to get back the same brain function?

Depression cognitively impairs you. The impairment can lessen if you become less depressed.
>>
Take modafinil, easy fix

You arent stupid OP its just that depression often hinders concentration.

You probbaly need help from a professional
>>
Some reasons

Depression usually leads to a sedentary life and bad nutrition, which both, in turn, lead to fatigue and those symptoms you describe.

Depression itself (low serotonin) affects brain functions.

If you're on SSRIs of any kind you will no doubt feel dumber. I don't recommend these at all.
