If you've been alone your whole life, it's really hard to distinguish between 'liking' someone and being attracted to them. I'd argue it sucks worse to be both not-liked ('unliked' doesn't seem to be a word and 'disliked' is the wrong word) AND not worthy of a literal fuck, but you still feel quite depressed even if you're only dealing with the former.
