I don't understand why Washington and Oregon, and Maine and New Hampshire, respectively, are on such different tiers.

Maine and New Hampshire are a lot alike. So are Washington and Oregon.

Why is Louisiana so great and West Virginia so awful?

Good list, but all four of those mentioned states should be close together in high tiers.

I'm from Oregon and the only bad spots here are north Portland and Eugene. Other than that, the state is paradise

Washington has the absolutely gorgeous Salish Sea, which includes Whidbey and the San Juan Islands, both of which are crazy beautiful. Plus, it has Spokane to balance out the Seattlers, and three big mountains. Oregon doesn't have either of the first two, and it only has Mount Hood.

New Hampshire doesn't have the Maine coast. If you're in New England and you have little to no coastline, you're wasting your time.

Why is NM god-tier? I live here and there are some pretty sites and places to visit, but it's a good place to visit not live (except cost of living is cheap as fuck). I want to blow my brains out.
