I looked at the statistics.
about 0.1-0.5% of the entire population of each state is a sex offender.
That's 0.4% of the country.

By extension, out of the 7 billion population of the world, about 20-30 million would be confirmed sex offenders.
And that's just the confirmed ones (the ones who were caught and entered into the database).
The total number would be several times higher - over a 100 million.

I was facing 15 years, but the judge dropped it down to 1000 hours community service because I was a first time offender with a history of mental illness and childhood trauma. Still registered as a sex offender though.

I didn't physically assault anyone, so it's the basic stuff. I have to be registered for 15 years, I have to tell any employers, I can't be alone with a child, I can't live in certain areas (around schools, and parks, or cities where sex offenders are banned period), and a bunch of small things that really don't apply to a shut-in like me.
