"Son, excuses never got anyone anywhere. You know what will? Getting a job. I'm taking you to look for one, and we won't stop until someone hires you right on the spot. It's all a matter of talking to the manager, looking him in the eye, addressing him as 'Sir,' giving him a firm handshake, and telling him you want the job. Easy as that."

"Champ, you can sit there and make excuses or you can man up and take the first step towards growing up. And you can do that by showing up, speaking with the manager, looking him in the eye, and giving him a firm handshake. What've you got to lose?"

I've always wondered why you guys try to make fun and mock this simple thing.
Have you ever tried it?, I guess that ypu did and I guess that you failed, but of course it's not your fault, it never is.
The problem is always other persons, not you, never ever you. Giving a firm handshake?, What kind of clown stupidity is that?, right guys?.

"Champ, it's simply a matter of pulling yourself up by the bootstraps and taking that vital first step. And all it takes is showing up, speaking with the manager, looking him in the eye, and giving him a firm handshake. It's as simple as that, Champ."

Yeah I did try it, that's why it's so funny. Spent all of last month handing out resumes and meeting with managers to no avail. Most places flat out said to apply online. I must have given out 30-40 resumes, and got one interview. Didn't get the job.
This such "dad" advice that hasn't be viable since the 70's-80's. It just doesn't work anymore.

"Those AOL things may seem nice, but you can't get a firm handshake out of them, Champ. Now I'm taking you to look for a job, and I won't take no for an answer. It's as simple as showing up, speaking with the manager, giving him a firm handshake, and handing him your resume. Can't be that hard."
"Kids these days don't know how good they have it. All it takes is speaking with the manager, firmly shaking his hand, and telling him you want the job."
