I still remember one of my best friends and how i met him in the ludi PQ. I added him only because he claimed to have the best AC and he really did, i never thought we'd be such buddies, but of course im fucked up and lost that friend.

Holy shit this game ruined my life started in beta and played it hardcore from like 12 all the way to 23. 13 years and literally thousands of dollars wasted on nx. Still have my account with 3 lvl 200 plus characters. Got a ua paladin to 200 when it was the cap as well as a marksman and then tried it a bit when the cap was raised got a mech to 211. All my toons had around 800k to 1m dmg range. They ruined the game by changing how the pqs were done and made it a solo grindfest no sense of community anymore. But oh man kpq and lpq with ac was the shit. Writing down peoples names for track amd what not. People with good ac would actually be semi famous in the game.

Yeah its fucking dumb but theres new end game bosses now that take time even if you could hit the damage cap. My marksman could literally 1 shot zakums bodies with no cooldown snipe, hitting around 200mill per shot. Couldnt solo someofthe new bosses though like cvell or hellux. So its still got content but its more about how much money you spend to be able to do any of it. Damn shame cause it was a really good game in the beginning.

Yeah I played a few months ago and got a character up to 150 in maybe a week. It's ridiculous and not fun because I'm leveling faster than I can complete any sort of content. Although it's not like the quests in the game are any good now.

I've logged into ms for the first time in almost 10 years yesterday

Modern Maplestory is still pretty fun. It's just a different kind of fun. Played a lot this month because there were a lot of events and some of my friend came back with me.

honestly I almost never made any friends through parties, it was always through guilds. You have much more of a chance to build a relationship with some one in my experience that way, because you have a large group of people to chat with and more actives and once you leave the party it's okay because they're still in the guild.

Also black desert is really popular right now and even arch age when it came out was pretty awesome even though people shit on it.

But I recently played wow with an ex and literally no one talked to eachother, not even in guild chat... I imagine it depends on what servers you're in but I wouldn't bother with wow if you want the social friendly aspect of the game... If I wasn't already playing with some I would have had no one to talk to.

A lot of people say that modern MMO companies fucked up through making their games easier and casualised and I think thats part of the decline in quality of 2010s MMOs compared to 2000s MMOs but I think it's more to do with two other things: exploration and socialisation.

They were priority in 2000s MMOs and they were what made it. You'd have huge maps you'd roam around, with areas that really had no gameplay point to them but looked cool, maybe had something to do with the lore.

There'd be no random PUGs and Dungeon Queuing, you had to rely on teaming up with people and heading to the dungeon yourself. You had to talk to people in the general chat to find people, some quests weren't soloable. People discussed stuff. There'd be roleplay and social events.

That's gone now because that's not the priority of the companies anymore. The priority is addictive gameplay, not sociability and exploration. Everyones over that with MMOs, or so they believe. "Okay so you can be on this big exploitable map with other people from around the world you can talk to, big deal. " They think.

Its now about quickly getting a group together, quickly running through a short dungeon. So that you can farm bits and pieces that unlock stuff, sometimes you need to pay real money for some key to unlock it. It's all about spurts of playing the same thing over and over, so they gotta be short and they gotta be addictive.

Smaller maps as they'll not be exploring anymore, they'll be staying in one spot. You can instantly connect with people and go to places with the dungeon finder system. There's less quests, because its more about running the same dungeon over and over.

The chat channels are pretty dead except for the Trade Channel. General is just used for trolling. If there's an LFG channel its used for finding guilds.

Nobody walks around anymore, they just stand.
