why does everything feel so artificial ?
Is this just me or reality? Everything feels like a fake or some kind of recreation of a past event.
I remember when everything used to feel so real and vivid.

I know the feel, it's like I'm always looking through a lens
It's called hyperreality, look it up. A faithful reproduction with no original.

first as tragedy, second as farce my man

Because everything has indeed become artificial these past few years. Everyone at some point has been influenced by the internet and smartphones so much that everyone is now focused on consuming, consuming, consuming instead of creating, especially Millennials. I recall a study claiming that 40 percent of college are less empathic than college students in the 1980s. but what do I know I'm fucking drunk
for me, it's some combination of
>forced self-depersonalization due to teenage trauma
>general mental detoiration due to isolation/drugs/drinking
>general alienation due to being unable to affect the world around me/my decisions seeming inconsequential and spending all day essentially in various simulations
>lack of new experiences
>generally increasingly surreal and bizarre nature of the world at large due to others in my generation having similar experiences and just general coincidence

>self-depersonalization
Like what? In High school I used to pretend I was in my own GTA game that the delusion became very huge and hard to ignore. Everytime I walk in public I pretend that there's a radar behind me on my lower left and when I drive I pretend the street names appear on my lower right. Now I can't shake this delusion and literally believe that I live in an island and it will always be 2017 just like the game where GTA IV stays in 2008 or GTA SA stays in 1992. Fuck me
