i was in a frat at my tiny liberal arts college. it was basically an excuse for a bunch of stoners and weird inoffensive dudes to live together. there was no hazing. sororities actually liked having mixers and shit with us because we weren't really trying to fuck them.

big school frats are horrible. small school frats can sometimes be okay, but plenty of them are full of bros who wish they got to party like state school kids

it's the kind of thing where you get out of it what you put into it, i.e. if you join and don't give a shit and shut yourself off from people, you won't come out of it with friends. but in general it definitely made meeting people easier and i still have a good group of guys i lived with who i can hit up now, even after graduating.

i paid less in dues than i would have paid either to live in private student housing or off campus
