My unit is the worst one on base for literally anything. Most alcohol related incidents, most drug use, most crime etc. At any given time you can see random civie girls walking the halls doing the walk of shame or about to fuck some guy. MP's are constantly there because of a fight or the partying got too hard.

Hardest part of OSUT is reception. Sure in the actual training they smoke you and you're sleep deprived and they treat you like shit but it's just 15 weeks. Infantry is pretty fun if you like shootan and acting like a general neanderthal. I had a good time

I'm usually "at work" in uniform like 12 hours a day, and in that time I do 2 or 3 if you include PT hours of actual work a day. I literally stand around in the motor pool with all the other E4s and below and do NOTHING like 8 hours a day because all the NCOs are too busy to train us

I dont even like tobacco but smoke a couple packs a week just to pass the time

Green-side assignments(attached to a Marine unit) are in extremely high demand among corpsmen right now.

Among those who do get selected to go to the Marines, the top 20% will get the infantry assignments as the infantry actually makes up a relatively small portion of the Marine Corps.

Of the 27 infantry battalions, 5 or less are deployed at any specific time

4 of those 5 are non-combat deployments.

The 1 "combat" deployment will be to an extremely large, safe base in which you almost never leave the wire and your primary responsibility is dealing with the local police/military forces, which will make you want to blow your brains out.

Sorry to say but the time for combat is long past. If that's what you were hoping for you will likely be extremely disappointed. The Marines haven't suffered a combat casualty in almost two years.
