Why did 2007 kill everything? Video games, movies, anime, TV, america, the economy, global stability, the internet, it all collapsed around this time.

Heck, even if you compare 2007 to 2006, the two years felt completely different. Even time seemed to move slower pre-2007. What the Fuck happened?

The Internet was fine up until 2013.
Also, you just grew up and faced with reality, to me, my life went to shit in 2011.

The global financial crisis was in 2008. Remember John McCain "suspending his campaign" to do something or other about it? Also there was another stock market crash a mere seven years earlier, but everything changed forever for other reasons in 2001.

I've been studying the effects of 2007 for years, and I've come to 1 main inclusion

The iphone. The iphone is responsible for EVERYTHING

Video Games died because the iphone normalized online gaming and casualized gaming in general with mobileshit

Movies died because everyone stopped going to movies to instead see shit on their phones all day

TV see above

America, iphones allowed for millennials to dictate politics via social media

Economy/global stability, see above

The internet, normies flooded thanks to iphones.

>>
>Video games
We still got jrpgs, we got alot of dogshit shooters being released but we can ignore them for the most part. Also mobas are shit .

>movies
Well there have been a few gems, but they have been few and far between.

>anime
Truth be told, looking through the old lists, I wouldn't have watched half of the anime I watched if they premiered now. (Seemed to be mostly kids stuff throughout the early 00's)

>TV
It's always been shit, stopped watching the second I could torrent anime

america,

> the economy
gas was like four something in 03-05 but it decreased to like 2.10 now and it was 1.80 in 05'

the recession was shit in 08' but everything sorted itself out

>the internet,
I agree with this one though
Alibet we have fast torrents, easy access stream sites, and skype;
it just doesn't have the same feel as the old web. I miss funny internet jokes before "memes"; oldskool 4chan raids, old /ic/, ytmnd, entervoid, and newgrounds.

I say chanology ruined it and brought a fuck ton of tards to this site. Actual racist started appearing with their "national socialism" and supposed superiority; I mean sure we would dick around beforehand "LOL DOUBLE NIGGER" but no one actually meant it.

R9K was a somewhat interesting board for discussion in 08' then sadshits started appearing.

That can't be, The Witcher 3 came out some time after 2007
>>
>>38226111
The internet fucked itself up with My Little Pony, then fucked itself beyond repair with Gamergate.
>>
>>38226163
it was pretty fucked around 09' when courage wolf/ advice dog appeared. Memes became "mainstream" and the "normies" flooded in.

>My Little Pony was the first idiot craze of the internet
Fuck everyone who tries to pinpoint a time when anything went bad, you niggas probably just grew up and realized everything is awful at this supposed time.
The 50s 60s 70s 80s 90s early 2000s and everything onwards and backwards have always been awful you morons
>>
>>38226207
Memes didn't become "mainstream" until mid-2013.

My Little Pony and Nyan Cat was when "the internet" turned itself into a "brand," and Gamergate was when the internet turned into this pseudolegitimate political activism shit where nobody is allowed to be anonymous anymore. I'd hate to be a kid turning twelve and just getting on the internet now, it's all fucking sanitized and reality-oriented.

>>38226299
There's no pinpoint "time when everything bad;" there are just periods when things are unignorably different from earlier periods.
>>
>>38226299
IMO things did change after 2007

>small active forum communities died off
>social media happened
>modding games as a hobby died off
>doxxing(thanks to social media)

For me 03-07 was the golden age of the internet. It was the wild west with small communities everywhere catering to every interest. I have over 10,000 cringe worthy posts out there that will never link back to me because of the anonymity we had at the time. All forums wanted was an e-mail address and a unique username. The major public discussion forums require significant amounts of personal info. I not active outside of 4chan now because of the ease of doxxing and the lack of a frontier feeling that the 03-07 internet had
>>

You must be really young dude I noticed the signs of change around 09' when new kids in college started drawing memes on the sidewalk and acting like idiots in public.

Truth be told I find this Gamergate and feminist shit funny; I actually laugh at both sides reactions.

Truth be told I feel bad for anyone born after 92' I was before that and it seems as though kids today are exposed to horseshit games more so than not.

Epic nostalgia there senpai, the videogame market back in the 80s and 90s had about as much shovelware as the mobile market today.
Take the nostalgia goggles off, kids born today have way better games objectively speaking even though their communities are garbage you cant argue that LJN games were better than CoD LoL or building brown bricks with Minecrap.
Also im noy saying that things haven't changed for the worse but im saying that they have always been awful one way or another.
>>

I know the 90's sucked the old I was during the 90's was 11 or so.

>Epic nostalgia there senpai, the videogame market back in the 80s and 90s had about as much shovelware as the mobile market today

I know that there was a ton of bullshit out there like generic games based of television shows and mounds of turds out there.

But the Four heavenly kings of the SNES era more than made up for all of that

>Seiken Densetsu 3
>Chrono Trigger
>Mario RPG
Final Fantasy 6

Square was 100 percent on point back then.

And don't get me started about the PS1
>RPG MAKER
>Arc the Lad
>Xenogears
>Seiken Densetsu
>Lunar 1+2
>Breath of Fire 3
> FF tactics
>FF9
> Dragon Quest 7
>Star Ocean
>valkyrie profile
Also the monster craze where everyone was making monster games in order to try to compete with pokemon like Jade Cocoon

They even continued on into the PS2 era with numerous titles

Upon visiting home my brother was playing Cod, he told me that he only played because his friends played.

I introduced him to my old Rpg collection and he told me that he liked these games much better. That's why I say that I feel bad for the kids, if they don't research these awesome games they won't find them,.

A stock market crash is merely an indicator of an economic collapse. In 2001 they counteracted that collapse by slashing interest rates. The lower starting point and bigger collapse made that response insufficient in 2008, but the world was full of neoHooverites obsessed with trying to balance the budget.

>>38225957
Almost everyone who got a smartphone in 2007, and the vast majority of people who got one since, were already on the internet.
