does working out really make you more confident?
Does it actually work?

It's a double edged sword. I got /fit/. I used to be skinny so if I saw someone and it'd been a while, they were usually surprised and had a lot of compliments for me. This can lead to ego issues and DID in my case. Realized I was going to the gym and eating bodybuilding food just to look good and keep the attention coming. Now I'm scaling it back and aiming for more general fitness. I'm training for a half marathon now

No
You'll look good, but if you're not a total fucking narcissist you won't actually change.
