Your family seems like they don't have much insight or can perceive other perspectives.

Finding work is hard anon especially if you're out in the boonies or in a small town. The only thing you can do is try and be a more aggressive by calling local jobs after applying until something pops up. Maybe invest to pay for a bus/bike if you need to and extend your area of search.
